Great city to relax and EAT! Lots of restaurants that are all very good. Optional tours outside of the city are highly recommended like the Socoro (Palms) and coffee plantations...there are others (mountain biking, etc). Uber is readily available. We were there 4 days which was just enough for us.

Salento is picturesque with colorful houses and beautiful interiors, located in the mountains and with a valley that is one of the main entrances to the high "nevados". Everything in Salento is about coffee, art, nature, birds and hiking. The best time to visit Salento is outside of the high season for a truly relax experience.

The cocora valley was closed on the 2 days we were there.
The cocora valley was closed on the 2 days we were there. This was the main reason we went and due to heavy rains or something along those lines, the road was damaged and not accessible by the Willy trucks. So everyone in line was turned away and told it was closed. Salento is very salesy - Filandia is a similar vibe with all of the painted houses but a bit less sales oriented. Would have stayed in Filandia and visited Salento for the day instead.
Coffee excursion was enjoyable.

Beautiful, colorful and lively town that preserves the architecture, traditions and flair of Colombia's coffee region. The place welcomes everyone , solo travelers, couples, families, etc. It offers a good variety of activities, ranging from strolling around the town to mountain trekking, from tours at coffee farms to fine handcrafts shopping, from dining traditional dishes to international cuisine. I recommend visiting this town to everyone.

I was pleased we chose to stay in Salento rather than at an outlying hacienda. Salento was very crowded with tourists/travelers but the town plaza was our favorite place to be in the mornings/evenings. Our two favorite restaurants were Juan Esteban (on the square) and Betatown. Both had very good food and service.
The bubble room is an interesting experience. It's really fun early in the morning and then in the evening, but you can't stay in it during the day as it gets too hot. Overall, the hotel is really beautiful, the staff very attentive, and I liked the hammocks and the restaurant in the common area.
Located 3 kms from Cocora valley, we were initially concerned about being able to get in and out of the place to Salento or to the valley - but we were able to flag down a passing jeep every time without any difficulty.
Amazing views from our junior suite and the hotel terrace. Our room was comfortable with a nice bed, AC, balcony, and tv. The room and bathroom were clean and looked like it had been recently renovated so felt new. We loved the whirlpool after a day of hiking and the ability to enjoy the views while having a soak. The location is nice and easily walkable to anywhere in the salento town. Breakfast was tasty and nice range of food offered.
Fabulous stay at the Salento Pequeno Hotel. Just a few minutes walk from the center, made it very accessible and quiet. The room for the 3 of us was a perfect size, comfortable, clean, nicely decorated with a balcony. The mini kitchen allowed for flexibility with eating, and preparing snacks. The staff were very friendly and helpful - patient with our non fluent Spanish. Also, felt safe and comfortable here. Would go back in a second!
I really loved the jacuzzi, the included 30 minutes massage was so relaxing, me and my partner got an amazing experience in the hotel, Salento is a pretty good place to visit, and if I come back to Colombia, definitely I will return to Coclí, all the environment was amazing as the staff, and I really enjoyed all the time that I spent in Coclí, was a very intimate time with my partner, and I strongly recommend the author's cocktail
Great communication with the hotel. The personnel was very helpful during my stay. They helped me with organizing transportation, gave recommendations about the activities in and around the town, arranged a laundry service for me. They also went the extra mile to send an item I had forgotten at the hotel in different location in Colombia. Overall, I had a great time in this place at a perfect location in Salento.
This hotel was wonderful! The room was spacious, very well decorated, the bathroom was great with a hot shower and great pressure just like at home, the staff was very helpful, giving us tips on what to do during our days in Salento... and the best of all, breakfast! In addition to being immense quantity and diversity, everything was great and fresh!
My advice, stay in Hotel Terrazas de Salento!!
Jesus and family were great people! They really know their way around Salento and you could ask them anything and they will know. PERFECT showers/facilities with hot water and great water pressure. Kitchen was super clean with everything that you need. Bed was comfy with curtains. Rooms were spacious and you could spread your things around. 2 bathrooms in a 6-bunk dorm? Unheard of but they had it!
We really enjoyed our stay, the hotel is absolutely beautiful and the hotel staff are very attentive and helped us with all of our questions, booking of activities and were super responsive for some last minute changes we needed to make. Food for breakfast and dinner was great, as were room & view. We were only here for one night but would suggest staying at least 2-3 nights in Salento.
Very cute and colorful hotel literally one block away from Salento's Plaza Bolivar. We enjoyed the few shared living spaces to watch the sunset over the mountains and the bedroom was small, but comfortable. It was perfect for a short stay. Breakfast was good yet simple; eggs, toasts and cheese with fruits and coffee.
Only problem was booking site says 1.7 km and it is further to Salento.. We had planned to walk each day but that was not possible. Had to pay for taxi or uber each time. Only other concern was noisy when a guest was in the next room . Could hear every word. Other than that this hotel is delightful.
The services provided by the staff was amazing. The beds were confortable and the rooms are super clean and cozy. This is the closest to a 5 star hotel in the whole Salento area. Special thanks to Gustavo, Mauricio and Cristina, great group of people who make this place extra special.
The view is the best thing the hotel has. Just wonderful! Breakfast is great and super fresh. Also the staff were really helpful and friendly, especially Juan and Alexis. They helped with booking restaurants and transport. Location is great in central Salento.
I have stayed at Hotel Salento Real a few times now, and I will continue to stay there when I’m in town. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. The hotel staff were very thorough and helpful. I definitely recommend!
Spacious room in colourful hotel. Location only 5 minutes walking to central Plaza Bolivar (where jeeps depart to Valle de Cocora, coffee plants, ...), with view on outer range of Salento. Friendly staff (although only Spanish speaking)
Absolutely Fantastic stay in Salento, Casa Quinta is a Beautiful hotel. Fernando the owner is the heart & Soul of this place. Such a lovely Gentleman! He made our stay even more better.. Breakfast was delicious.
Location is good!
Very beautiful Hotel close to the center of Salento, the rooms are big and new with a beautiful terrace, we were welcomed with a homemade drink, the breakfast was very good and staff very friendly. Wpuld absolutely recommend!
Not only is the hotel very traditional and beautiful, the breakfast is outstanding! The location is also right on the central square of Salento. I would absolutely recommend!
The hotel is beautiful with a colonial decoration, very suitable with the "Eje Cafetero" style. The location is perfect, very close to the main street Calle Real
