WE went with one purpose: to see the Monarch Butterflies.
WE went with one purpose: to see the Monarch Butterflies. We were careful to plan our trip to include a sunny day as that is when the Monarchs fly around. If cloudy or overcast they tend to roost in the fir trees and just look like dried leaves. WE had a car so drove to the reserve and took the horses 1/2 way up and walked the rest of the way. The trip was very difficult and I would not recommend it to anyone who has mobility of breathing problems. We were rewarded with seeing thousands of them flying around int he sunshine. An Amazing experience. After the butterflies we returned to our hotel and the next day took it easy, having a massage and going into town to look around. In town there is a very fine crafts museum that is well worth seeing. We stayed one additional day in hopes of visiting some nearby pueblos. However, we were told there were no pueblos so we just wanders around town for another day. We should have cut the trip to 3 days. Warning: the roads in town are narrow, steep, and cobblestone. VERY narrow and difficult to drive over. Take care.

Valle is a great place, I go often.
Valle is a great place, I go often. The only problem right now is that the whole downtown area is under construction. Be aware of this before you go, I am sure once the construction work is done everything will be fine.

Nice hotel in town square.
Nice hotel in town square. Friendly staff, but be careful, someone went through our bags and took money and headphones. Manger just denied it. Police report made but no results. There is no safe in the rooms.

Such an atmospheric town.
Such an atmospheric town. Lots of lovely shops to explore and a fascinating market. The waterfalls and the butterfly sanctuary are amazing but you need to leave a whole day for the butterfly sanctuary.

They try to please you everytime. I scheduled a Spa treatment at Rodavento and they arrange a transportation service for free. They allowed our pet to be almost everywhere. During our stay there was an event at the restaurant and they allowed us to get to The roof area with her. They also offered a bed and plates for her. It can take up to 30 minutes to drive to the centre at busy times. The rooms are well decorated, the pool area is lovely and great for swimming. The gardens are well tended and it's very peaceful and relaxing. Staff are extremely helpful and attentive. The inclusive breakfast is fairly basic but there are options to pay for hot items.

The room we were given was beautiful, huge, had a fridge, hair dryer and coffee maker. It felt very luxurious and perfect for our honeymoon. The breakfast was amazing and easily the best we have had so far (we have stayed in cheaper places until now or not had breakfast inc). The staff were very helpful. The receptionists did not speak any English but we were able to book a taxi to go to the butterfly reserve.
