Seems like Zakopane has forgotten who pays their bills, and tourists will come anyway. Even bus drivers try to mess around with tourists. Three times they told me to get off at the wrong bus stop (too early), in one case causing me to miss the train, in another laughing because I had to walk 1km extra.
Next, people are trying to take advantage of you wherever they can, charging little extra, "forgetting" to give you change, steering you into expensive options etc. Keep that in mind.
If you can overlook unfriendly locals, the mountains are beautiful and hiking is great.

Zakopane has a lot to do in terms of hiking (when it's not totally snow covered). If you're into hiking, you can spent a week at the various parts of Tatry National Park. There are cultural events, too, though I'm not as certain as to how to find them.

Very nice mountains town with many hotels and many tourists attractions.
But is better go the outseason. 29.4. and 30.4. was great, because around 23C and sunny, clear. No wind, that was optimal weather to visit in working day, the next days from 1.5. it will be too many tourists there.
Best place to see Tatry mountains, go walk or linear train to Gubałówka (better buy ticket advance online).
There are also many attractions, views and restaurants.

Zakopane is a perfect place to stay before your mountain...
Zakopane is a perfect place to stay before your mountain trips. You have plenty of places to spend a night in, to eat, and to buy what's needed. It is the core center of the transport connection to smaller villages/nature locations as well.
Don't stay only in Zakopane though! Go and see the natural beauty around you. Zakopane is a "port" to me, not the destination.
We absolutely loved this hotel. It was gorgeous, our suite was amazing, very clean, friendly reception staff, and the location was great, it is so close to the main street! The breakfast was included and some of the best food we've had while traveling around. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Zakopane. Especially if you have kids, there are 10:00pm-7:00am quiet hours, which was great for making sure our kid slept while we got to enjoy a cocktail on our suite's balcony.
It was such a cute house and was very cosy for the 4 of us. We got lots of tips from the owners regarding skiing and restaurants . We went to Bubuja Bistro twice as the food was so good . We also loved the gorgeous retired avalanche dog . I would avoid the local convenice store ABC if you can as prices seem to be double the rest of the shops and they have no prices on anything.
We loved Zakopane and would come back as soon as we can . It was great to be able to walk everywhere from the chalet
Lietuviai labai laukiami! 🇱🇹🤝🏻🇵🇱
Apartment was very cozy, clean and spacious! The house itself is very close to one of the main Tatri mountain hiking trails. There are many shops and restaurans close by, plenty of space for a car that is secured behind locked gates. Owner is very friendly and helpful, even suggested activities for us during our stay. Will for sure come back here on our next visit to Zakopane!
I had an amazing time at Radisson Blu Zakopane! The location is stunning, with. The spa was so relaxing, and the squash court was a fun bonus. The inclusive breakfast had a great variety, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The best part was the exceptional staff; they made my stay unforgettable. I highly recommend this hotel for a luxurious Zakopane getaway. Can't wait to come back!
Can't say anything about breakfast as never used. The location is a bit away from the centre of Zakopane, you need a bus to get there or 50 min walk. On the other hand the location is perfect for Tatra national park. It's a hostel, not a 5 star hotel, you share it with other people from all over the world, which can be a great experience. Great value for money, perfect place to explore Tatra mountains.
All was fine: breakfast, SPA, nature surrounding. Close to centre. Good restaurant on the territory. Big parking slot. Big rooms. Comfortable bed. Excellent noise isolation. I have got all necessary info about the facilities in the hotel and attractions in Zakopane. I've got it during my check in.
Aries hotel is well located in Zakopane, just by the main road where you can find shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel is incredible and well maintained. The design is spectacular and I really recommend travelers with childrens or couples to stay at this lovely hotel. Breakfast is super lovely!
the location of Helan hotel is great, five minutes walk to the bus station Pardałowka II. Buses go to to center of Zakopane each 15 minutes. We had the room with a balcony with view of the Mountains. The Hotel was very clean. The breakfast was delicious. The spa in hotel was good.
The location is breathtaking, views from the window, the whole building is brans new has amazing specific Zakopane decor that you can only see in this part of Poland, breakfast delicious with all varieties of items , the host cook to order and all is served in a nice way.
The place is amazing. So cozy like in fairy tale. Little bit outside main part of Zakopane but this is huge plus. Very cool design, parking is there. Harenda ski area just 5-8 minutes by car. Beautiful views from the balcony! Can’t beat it. WiFi was great you can do work
Our stay was really nice. We enjoyed everything this hotel has to offer. The breakfast is delicious, you can find water, tea and coffee in the room. Also the rooms are very clean. Beautiful spa with swimming pool, saunas and jacuzzi. A 10 for the staff!
Everything was great! The hotel is super stylish and we've enjoyed so much our stay there! This is the best place in Zakopane we've ever stayed so far.
We especially liked the jacuzzi and the SPA zone in general, it was just perfect.
The location is really good. It's in the main pedestrian street of Zakopane where everything happens. The free parking space on the premises of the hotel are a very good option for people arriving by car.
Nice couple who manages the property. Rooms are spacious, area is quiet. Great location to be between hiking areas, thermal pools, and Zakopane. Plenty of parking space.
Beautiful hotel, just gorgeous. Staff was fantastic. Location was perfect - close walk to city center
The spa area was fun and water temperate was perfect
