Located among Thailand’s highest mountains, Chiang Mai is the beloved, idyllic and somewhat mystic capital of the North. Offering more than 300 temples, it is considered one of the most important cultural centres in the country.
Despite being Thailand's fifth-largest city, Chiang Mai still keeps a relaxed and laidback feel. Modernity, trendy shops and boutique hotels haven’t altered much of its picturesque and peaceful atmosphere.
This reputation is partly due to its proximity to mountains and lush green areas, like Doi Suthep Mountain and its panoramic Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple. The Doi Inthanon National Park is 60 km away and comprises Thailand’s highest mountain.
Hotels in Chiang Mai’s old city centre are a popular choice, offering a more picturesque experience, with its moat and older temples. Chiang Mai hotels can also be found around the Chang Klhan Rd, where the famous Night Bazaar takes place.
The city’s nightlife runs along the Loi Kroh Rd, while Ratchadamneon Rd hosts the main Sunday night pedestrian market. Don’t forget to buy an umbrella from Bo Sang and eat a bowl of kao soi.
Whether you arrive at Chiang Mai International Airport or come by land from Bangkok, don’t miss 'The Rose of the North' deals on Booking.com!

Chiang Mai is a lovely old city that still retains character. It has many temples, and some of the old city walls and moat remain. Great restaurants. Easy flights in and out. close to Laos and the Golden Triangle.

Chiang Mai has its own charm.
Chiang Mai has its own charm. The highest mountain in Thailand is found there where the King and Queen pagodas on manicured gardens are perfect for photos.
If you like interacting with cute and friendly elephants, immerse yourself in their natural habitat right in the jungles by staying at least a night at Chai Lai Orchid.
Meet and learn about the Karen tribe too.

Our trip to Chiang Mai was good.
Our trip to Chiang Mai was good. Enjoyed our stay at the Kum Phaya resort. The resort was amazing and the staff were friendly.
The resort organises Cultural show and dinner which was not published in Booking.com.
We came to know about it at the reception. Had we known about it we would have booked the cultural show and dinner at our Resort, rather than travelling by taxi to the Old Chiang Mai cultural centre.
In my view this should be promoted in booking.com.
We have not completed our tour and hence unable to comment further.

Chiang Mai is one of the best city we visited in Thailand.
Chiang Mai is one of the best city we visited in Thailand. The city still holds the old culture in terms of its gates, markets, old buildings, temples and some nearby locations which are a must visit.
We visited the night markets which had so much opportunities for shop, the city is connected in a square which you can bike around as well. Stay at Buri Gallery. Visit Mae Kampong Village, see how the villagers live and survive with their means of tourism. Try to stay a night there as well. Drive to Mae Rae district for a picturesque sunsets and sunrise over the hills. If season is right you get to visit the Flower garden as well. There are numerous elephant sanctuary but visit Living Green, they are the most ethical and when we visited the elephants had freedom to do their way and felt like you are coming to their home to meet them. The Living Green Team takes good care of the elephants and make sure the guests have good experience with ample informations about all the elephants. The team is multilingual as well.
I would for my next time hire a good car for entirety of my stay so that I can travel well.

Wonderful place to visit.
Wonderful place to visit. Old town is so charming with the little labyrinth streets, there are gorgeous temples everywhere, by the way that’s where you can get the best and cheapest massages ever!! The food is delicious and there are plenty of options everywhere! And of course the wonderful, heartwarming and gentle Thai people are the best of Thailand! Plenty of activities and wonderful nature to explore around Chiang Mai. Will be coming back with at least one week here! 💖
Probably best hotel I've stayed in at that price point. What is there not to praise, hotel feels like you are in a jungle paradise lots of green all through hotel. Rooms and beds are comfortable and spacious with good showers with your own hot water. Poolside breakfast is sublime with fresh everything, eggs, fruit etc. The neighbourhood is very quiet with lots of temples to visit and restaurants not eat at. Can't praise this place enough I'll definitely stay next time in Chiang Mai. They even have massages on site at great prices.
Little boutique hotel, interior very nicely arranged, lot's of plants, trees also outside.
Really great location. This area is my favourite part of chiang mai old city, close to restaurants, very good localization.
Beautiful, clean room with balcony over the pool, a huge comfy bed. Such great value!!!
The staff are lovely here. helpful, and accommodating throughout my stay. They assisted me in renting a scooter and arranging tours, which made my trip so much more memorable.
I couldn't fault the hotel and stay here.
It is my third time Chiang Mai, and I always liked the northeastern corner vibe of the old city. And Yindee is located in the heart of this community. We liked everything about here, chilling on the airy porch, having tea and bananas, enjoying little conversations with the owners. It is a 50 years old hotel, and they have renovated this hotel after Covid, kept something old from the past in a nice fashion. Very good place and we will most definitely come back and back again.
The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Even though we have checked out they invited us back to make Krathong for the festival at the hotel. The location was great - very central in the old city. The night market was 2 minutes away and there are plenty of restaurants in walking distance. Laundry service was great. Breakfast was included. Beds very comfortable and tea and coffee, water available. But the best thing was the staff - so helpful and friendly.
We loved everything about this hotel. Actually we don't usually stay at picture perfect hotels. But this hotel had nothing wrong. The location is the best, in a quiet neighborhood close to the old town, cool graffiti art center and a newly open canal. The room was fantastic, wide and comfortable. There is a nice pool open until late. Breakfast was delicious and there's a 24h coffee with cakes. Let us not forget the super nice staff. We'll surely come back!
We had a really nice stay at SleepMai. Check in was smooth and rooms were modern, spacious and super clean. The facilities such as the common area and pool were also great. Breakfast was tasty. Location is perfect for first time visitors and within walking distance from the Old town. But the best of all was the staff! Always smiling, helpful and extremely service minded.
We would love to come back to this hotel.
Quiet hotel in a good location with very friendly staff and a lovely breakfast included in the price.
Hotel is located within the walls of the Old Town and is about 25 minutes walk to the old city gates. Good choice of bars, restaurants and shops within easy walking distance too....particularly worth noting that SP Chicken is located next door to the hotel - I recommend trying this for lunch.
It's a small boutique hotel.... first time for me to stay at a property like this and it was a Great experience! The rooms were great size, the bathrooms were good, the beds were good but the best thing is the staff. They have the one staff on duty but that one staff does anything and everything for you..... Both of the girls we interacted with were just amazing! Full 5 star service!
The location is excellent, in the heart of the old city, very close to all the temples and museums. The road turns into a market once a week, which was a great experience. The hotel was lovely, beautiful achitecture. The room was spacious and the bath tub was delightful. The pool area was nice too. Staff is excellent, very helpful, informative and polite.
Great little (3 story) boutique hotel in the heart of the Old City of Chiang Mai.
We could walk to most activities we did in the city (including two walking tours), and 2 out of town tours picked us up at the hotel. Plus the have a great restaurant on their ground floor, and a boutique clothing shop. (Thanks to friends in Toronto for referring us.)
The property is in a good location. Anywhere you stay in Chiang Mai old city is a good location though so I can’t say that this is unique to this hotel. It’s just not in a bad location. The housekeeping staff was amazing!! I loved their hospitality and willingness to help! Jay at the front desk was super helpful as well!
Fabulous location, lovely setting, comfortable rooms, just the most lovely staff, so helpful, friendly and polite. We used the free bikes and enjoyed cycling round the old city, and even out to the Ping river- after a delicious breakfast at the hotel, of course!
beautiful hotel, located on a quiet street but still walkable to anywhere within the old city. Pool is small but good enough and our suite room was gorgeous.
Beautifully decorated hotel and rooms. Felt like an oasis in old city Chiang Mai. Our room was amazingly large with a comfortable bed.
Breakfast was lovely.
