Yanagawa Guest House Horiwari is situated in Yanagawa. The accommodation is a 58-minute train ride and 10-minute taxi ride from Nishitetsu Fukuoka Tenjin Station. Dorms were clean and had lots of storage space to place luggage. Bathroom and shower were also clean, the shared space was amazing to sit in and chat with other guests after a long day. The owner was super kind, offering to take me to 7-11 one night after hearing I hadn’t had dinner, and to an event she was going to after running into me returning to the guesthouse. Totally would recommend to stay here!!

It's not just a hotel but a destination, a cultural gem. The historical Great Hall and the Japanese garden are beautiful. In the evening you can sit on the edge of the Great Hall looking out on to the beautifully lit garden that surrounds a small lake. And the hotel provide you with sake and other drinks at no charge to aid a truly memorable experience. Our room was large, spacious, comfortable and clean, with a fabulous view over the garden. Breakfast was traditional Japanese, and of the highest quality. All the staff were courteous, and very helpful. There is an excellent museum right next door to the hotel to which entry is free to hotel guests. So don't miss it or the tour around the historical parts of the hotel. This is probably the most glowing review I have ever given on Booking.com, but it absolutely deserves it.

The quality of linen gave us both a great night's sleep.
