It is a Japanese traditional house homestay with tatami which located only 5 mins walk from the train station. We got a big room as there were 4 of us. The room is spacious which is sufficient to open all of our luggages. The owner Mariko-san is very friendly as she took good care of us. She drove us to the bridge and prepared different types of breakfast for 2 days. She also gave us souvenirs which made by herself. We felt like home throughout our stay.

Located in Nikko, 2.8 km from Tobu Nikko Station, Gableview Forest Inn ゲーブルビュー features accommodation with a hot spring bath, a public bath and an open-air bath. The hosts are very friendly, the house is in the countryside with a hot bath inside and outside the house. The meals (dinner and breakfast) are very good.

There's also a small local supermarket near the hostel, offering cheap bentos and food ingredients. Owner is a guide, so you can learn more about the environment of Nikko.

We liked that we could prepare a meal in the kitchen and relax in the living area. Our room was just right and there was enough space for our luggage. Yoshi the host is a lovely person and gave great tips for sightseeing and restaurants, he also speaks excellent English.

It was a great location, since it was near all the sites we wanted to visit. We really enjoyed the property with the large garden area and the river behind it. But the best part was the amazing host, Arai san! Our daughters (ages 4 and 8) would have been happy to stay at the house the entire trip, since Arai san made it so much fun. At their invitation, he accompanied us to the river several times and even brought a net to help them look for creatures in the water. He also taught them how to catch dragonflies, a skill they have now mastered. :) The girls loved the bunk beds, and I loved the bath, which was always prepared in advance with the perfect temperature of water.

Homely rooms with mountain views, free Wi-Fi and a private bath await guests at Villa Revage, 350 metres from Nikko Botanical Garden. A beautiful lodge to stay in. The star is the onsen - there are 2 onsen rooms in a separate building outside with a maple tree on the walk out. There is a clever light system that allows you to know when the onsens are in use by other guests - plenty of time to be able to use. The onsen rooms are beautifully built and were such a delight to use - there was a private outside space for one of them as well. As the onsens are private, it is fine for people with tattoos to use. There is a large communal area where you have breakfast and can also relax and prepare other meals. Hot and cold water available as well as microwaves and toaster for preparing meals. There is a lovely children's play area as well. Breakfast is served in the morning with a choice of different pastries and drinks that you order the night before. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. Good location - 10 minutes by bus from Tobu Nikko station, 5 minutes by bus to the shrines, temples and Shinyko bridge, 5 minute walk to Daiyu river and about 30-40 minutes by bus to Lake Chuzenji. The beds were comfortable and there was good amount of space for storage in the rooms. Table, chairs and TV in each room.

It was a wonderful experience, coming to Mr. Hiro's house. The accommodation was clean, beautiful, traditional, the conversation with the owner was very pleasant. I slept wonderfully there. I will always return to this place in my thoughts. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. And as a bonus, there is excellent and tasty drinking water. If you are thinking about where to stay in Japan, this is the right choice. Just don't make the same mistake I did. We were only for one night. We have to come back here for at least 3 nights.
