In the heart of the Blue Mountains with lots of eating options. Lots of great walks nearby. The 3 sisters are within walking distance so you can avoid the parking charges recently implemented in the area.

Katoomba main street is still struggling after covid with quite a few empty shop fronts however mother nature and her spectacular views make up for this. Scenic World as the main draw is always worth the trip and Nocturnal event is a new way to experience the Valley. Of course Echo Point and 3 sisters are a must as is Govetts Leap lookout. So many pretty towns around like Leura and if you have time take a little side teip to Lithgow. Highly recommend this trip. Parking is an issue around the town centre and usual tourist attractions but worth dealing with anyway.

Direct train from Sydney.
Direct train from Sydney. Very quaint traditional old mining town, old fashioned 'high street' with plenty of places to stay and eat. We stayed in the grand Carrington Hotel which has a lot of history as part of the evolution of the town. Our main reason for visiting was to easily access the Katoomba based hop-on/off bus to visit The Blue Mountains. This worked perfectly and as well as seeing Katoomba and the blue Mountains, we also got to visit the pretty neighbouring village of Leura which is included in the route. We felt we made a very good choice.

Katoomba has everything you will need or find in a regional town. The large supermarkets are available and open for longer hours for groceries (Aldi, Coles, Woolworths). The shops and restaurants close early, so check times and organise around that. There are limited number of restaurants and eateries in town. We ate at Rustico - this place is almost always full (even on weekdays) - best book ahead. We had one sunny day out of 3 days. Luckily that was enough to visit Scenic World, do the rides and walk around. We recommend taking the Blue Mountains Explorer Bus (hop-on hop-off) to minimise driving. There are many easy to medium walks along the clifftops.

The new Cliff Top walk to Wentworth Falls was excellent.
The new Cliff Top walk to Wentworth Falls was excellent. Just right level for me. It would be good if the shuttle buses went to Gordon Falls and Leura as I had to walk back along the roads a lot. Also access to the walk at Scenic World was closed, which was annoying as the walk is advertised to start there. It was Easter Sunday and very busy but this should have been made clear perhaps with signs at Katoomba Falls where the walk actually started from. I ate at 8 Things, great value and the RSL which was not so great. The Pool of Siloam is one of the best things in the mountains I discovered this weekend.

The town is lovely, great places to eat and drink, lots of attractions and view points, short drives to many other places. I really enjoyed it. One thing i would mention, as we were caught out with this, the whole town stops serving food at 8pm, so you do have to choose between watching the sunset and eating.
The location is excellent. When in the house it seems like you are really isolated but you're actually quite close to Katoomba. The view is sensational & the large deck in good weather made the view central to our stay. The 3 friends I stayed with regarded the bath to be the best bath they had ever had in their lives. Not being a bath person I really rated the rain shower in the laundry. The house was clean & has everything you need. I would not hesitate to recommend it or to stay there again.
Upon arrival, you’re met with an amazing and friendly customer service experience, which is then overshadowed by the historical nature of the hotel itself. The vintage vibe and “heritage” feel were a breath of fresh air, for someone like myself who is very much used to the hustle and bustle of city life. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who asks, and highly doubt I will look elsewhere when I return to Katoomba.
The rooms are a little old but comfortable and clean. Good space. The breakfast is optional, well served and at a relatively low cost. The location is perfect, close to the train station and in the high part of the main street, close to restaurants and attractions. The hotel has a good parking space and the old atmosphere is amazing. It is our second time there and we hope to return many more. The staff is very friendly!
Great location in the centre of Katoomba, within walking distance of access to the falls walks.
Super friendly staff, very friendly vibe. People staying were mostly younger travellers, but a good smattering of families with children and grey-haired travellers such as us.
The large kitchen was well equipped and mostly clean, and the communal eating and chilling spaces were also welcome.
Car park round the back.
Beautiful heritage hotel right in the middle of the main street in Katoomba
It still has its old world charm having been built in 1888
The old working lift was cool having been kept for the period experience
Breakfast was great in the lovely grand Dinning Room and very tasty/comprehensive
Room was spacious with view of town and bathroom has plenty of room
The hotel is ideally located close to Katoomba railway station. The bed was very comfortable and the shower good. The room was clean with tea/coffee/milk and kettle. We advised we would be arriving late and received helpful information via booking.com the necessary codes for collecting keys and gaining access. All worked extremely well.
Hotel was in a good location close to the heart of Katoomba. It is an old hotel (as many are in Katoomba) but with some charm. The rooms are adequate with ensuite and there is a large lounge with fireplace and bar area which worked well for our group of 12. The new manager was very friendly and helpful.
I appreciated that my room was accessible after office hours. Everything was clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is located near Echo Point, where the Three Sisters are and it is a short drive to the Katoomba shops.
Blue Mountain is so... beautiful and the hotel was close to the visitor center and hikes. Clean and large "family" room. Breakfast is available for a price - we did not opt into eating on-site.
Intentionally booked to be close to the Three Sisters for dusk and dawn and did not disappoint. A lovely hotel, generous and helpful staff. An easy bus connect from the main part of Katoomba.
A peaceful hotel on a quiet side street. The location is extremely convenient for exploring Katoomba and the Blue Mountains. I particularly loved the massage chair in my room!
The bedroom was big and comfortable, and the bathroom renovated and modern.
The hotel is quite impressive and well maintained, and staff members professional and polite.
The staff at the Katoomba Hotel were well above standard. They went out of their way to help us - genuine, caring customer service is a rare thing these days.
This is a grand guest house/hotel which feels recently renovated. Our room was large and comfortable. It's perfectly located just beyond Katoomba's main drag.
Pretty, old-fashioned hotel in a great location. The old style was charming yet a bit worn out but everything was super clean and the rooms were comfy.
