Port Fairy is a pretty little town. I loved the historic buildings especially the timber cottages. The town is obviously cherished by its inhabitants and pride is taken in its presentation and history. There are some great places to eat in Port Fairy.
We had hoped to do some walking along the path by the river and around Griffith island. My husband has Parkinson’s and uses a walker for balance. We did some walking but we’re limited because the path along the river is broken by stairs to the footbridge over the river and the start of the Griffith island path is wonderful but deteriorates to rough gravel. Port Fairy is a great place to visit - especially if you appreciate a very good golf course. The town has great historical interest and is well appointed for tourists. This part of Victoria is very exposed to the weather so the traveller needs to check the weather in advance and take clothes to suit.

Port fairy is a beautiful, quiet and very much upmarket town with excellent shops, cafes and one or two good looking restaurants. There are peaceful, interesting nature walks and a picturesque wharf and boardwalk.

We visited Port Fairy as part of a drive along the Great Ocean Road in November 2023. We really loved the place. Very walkable. We particularly enjoyed the waterfront along the Moyne River and the wildlife on Griffiths Island. Had a lovely and good value meal at Alexo Pizza and Bistro (and the robot waiter was a real novelty). My wife said the coffee and cake at the Mill (across the road from Alexo) was some of the best she had ever tasted. The East Beach was miles of glorious sand. Would have loved to stay longer, but we had to get to Hall’s Gap in the Grampians. We did stop at nearby Tower Hill on the way north, but didn’t really have time to do that justice. Can’t wait to visit again, but not sure when that will be as we live thousands of miles away in the UK.
This accommodation exceeded our expectations. A little bit of country nestled a hop, skip, and jump from the main center of Port Fairy. Clean and cozy with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. Every channel you could wish for on the television. Cooking facilities with everything required. Llamas and cows to wake up to, honestly, what more could we ask for. Beaches are a short drive with little safe coves to swim in. Our hosts were exceptionally friendly and welcoming.
We loved staying at this quaint cottage and would have happily stayed another night. Clean, comfortable and great location , just a few minutes walk to the main street . Lots of character with beautiful furnishings and well equipped kitchen. We liked the little touches and the complementary chocolates were appreciated. Christmas decorations were lovely. Easy contactless checkin with key code sent day before. Will recommend for a stay in Port Fairy.
The location was ideal for the reason we were visiting Port Fairy, Whilst there was no parking area available at the accommodation we did manage to find parking within easy walking distance of the Hotel. We enjoyed the evening meals we had at the restauarant attached to the hotel. No breakfast available but we were able to eat at a cafe opposite the Hotel.
We were upgraded fromy original Train Carriage booking to a mobility friendly cabin. The park is right beside the Moyne river and the environment is very quiet. Port Fairy is a great little town, and I would most certainly stay at the Pelican Waters again in future. The hosts were most accomodating for us.
The cutest property in Port Fairy! super spacious room and living room/bathroom. Lovely view of the animals from your bed and deck. Extra large bathroom with spa bath. Great decor, furnishings and fireplace to make your stay extra cosy. Seamless check in process. We didn't want to leave our Cottage
The accommodation was in a a historic old Flour Mill. The building was beautiful. The amenities perfect. The location to town center awesome. Bonus was the location was on the river. Wonderful view from our rooms. We love Port Fairy and every thing we wanted to do and see was in walking distance.
Loved the property, we had a 3 bed apartment-so a two bed plus the one bed unit downstairs. Was perfect. Location was ideal at the top end of port fairy, walking distance to everything and staff were really friendly and lent us some tools to build our kids bikes.
We loved our holiday in Port Fairy. It was our first time there and we will definitely be back. It is a beautiful beachside place with none of the takeaways etc. Walks were wonderful and the motel is in the Main Street but it was very quiet.
Super central location. Yet quiet. Lovely apartment with shady sunny balcony. Pristine condition. Fantastic walks on east beach and then on Killarney Beach. Lots of food and beverage options. Right beside supermarket
Such a beautiful room, very well considered details and the comfiest bed! We absolutely loved our stay here - the location is perfect, and the food at the hotel cafe/restaurant is lovely. Would highly recommend!
Brilliant stop over set within a piece of Port Fairy history. Lovingly maintained old building and furniture and full amenities. Really enjoyed our short stay!
No breakfast provided . Furnishings were comfortable, plenty of space both inside and around the house. Handy location to East Beach, the river and town.
