This was a great hotel to stay in. The room was comfortable, the owner was friendly and the location was really good. I stayed for over a week and the owner never troubled me to pay - “when you want”. I felt welcome there and I would definitely return.

Blagoevgrad is a lovely provincial town. Thanks to the two universities, there are lots of nice restaurants (and at least 5 night clubs - if you are young enough to enjoy them!). A few minutes walk and you are out in the beautiful countryside. This place is a real gem!

Blagoevgrad is a bit of a funny town which is not welcoming to foreigners. You get treated with suspicion and sometimes outright hostility. We chose it as a base for exploring the Rila Mountain region and for its good connection with Sofia and Plovdiv. Unfortunately they have reduced the number of buses to Rila Monastery so it is not as easy to access, meaning a total of 4 buses at slightly inconvenient times.
The museum in the town is very good, with plenty to see, and the walk up to 'The Cross' is lovely with great views out over the mountains.
Overall, I think there are definitely better towns to stay in to explore the mountains and we would look elsewhere next time

A nice small city with a nice location .
A nice small city with a nice location . I staid at Sky Apartments as always. Easy to get around by fot, many resturants to choose from, my favourite this time was Restaurant & pizza Verde. Close to Greece and the mediterranean, or in the winter go to Bansko and ski. Blagoevgrad also host the American University.

Blagoevgrad is a small mountain town with clean air.
Blagoevgrad is a small mountain town with clean air. The streets are quiet, there is a pedestrian boulevard where you can enjoy the walk and visit the nearby bars and restaurants. There are not many places of entertainment or organized events. I have traveled there often and I think a 2-3 day trip is enough. Card payments can not be made in every store, so it is good to have local money with you. One time I had to take a sedative at the pharmacy and I had no local money but euros and a credit card and it would have been impossible to get a sedative if a very polite girl had not helped me. People look cold but they are helpful. The weather in the morning until 2 PM is mild, then it cools down immediately. However, the experience of traveling to a former communist country is interesting. Taxi service is not expensive. The prices are satisfactory.

A nice, quiet, province city, near the capital of Sofia.
A nice, quiet, province city, near the capital of Sofia. Less than an hour distance by car, on the highway. Lots of restaurants, bars, night clubs, but also an opera house, theaters, museums. Some great parks with long alleys to walk or bike.

The center of the city is very pleasant with a large pedestrian area with a wide range of shops and very good and varied restaurants. There is a pleasant old section to the city with many traditional and beautiful buildings. All of the above is in a fairly compact area and pleasant to walk around.
The Boutique Apartments were centrally located overlooking a treelined walking street. It was near some great restaurants and close to all the places we needed to go in our stay there. It was very quiet at night, comfortable and roomy. It was very clean and reasonably priced. The staff were excellent and the lady who runs the hotel was very helpful. Two thumbs up and we highly recommend the Boutique Apartments Blagoevgrad.
Brilliant hotel..staff..food..location. Can not praise enough. It was quiet...but nothing was to much trouble. Checked in very late and had a feast waiting in our room as dinner had finished. The day before leaving was the staff Xmas party they said come down and join us as we were the only guests staying. Had a great time ...they made us very welcome. Great people...Great Hotel. Highly recommended.
Location is in the city center with plenty of cafes and main street near by. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We have asked for extra parking space in the morning, being a blue zone and hotel manager offered us free parking. Breakfast was a la carte, no buffet. Choice was not big, but well cooked.
A small and cozy hotel within walking distance from the center of Blagoevgrad. Everything is up to standard: comfortable beds, fast internet, crystal cleanliness. Breakfast is ordered in advance from the menu, but since we left early, we did not try it.
The high rating I gave due to the low price. It is a good, solid 2-star-hotel. The staff is polite and the clientele in the restaurant is local.
I had a very good stay at Fenix and will come back if God sends me to Blagoevgrad again.
The beds were alright, though the sheets and blankets did not suit the weather. Location is sketchy, but was good for my purposes, since it was relatively close to a landmark. There is also a 24/7 shop right next to the hotel.
The hotel had a great location, just on the main street of the Blagoevgrad.
The hotel was surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, and a grocery shop where you could buy freshly baked different kinds of pastries.
Food in the Hotel-Restaurant was really good. Especially the deserts. The Spa facilities which were active were nice. Personal besides the yound guy in the Spa was polite, helpful and nice. Rooms are warm and big.
The hotel was very clean and the staff were so kind and accommodating.
The room is a lot nicer than in the pictures, we were pleasantly surprised.
Easy to park and close to the Rila monastery.
Fenix Hotel it was the perfect stay for one night while in transit. You have all that you need and the hotel has also a restaurant that was still open at 22. It was a good money value.
This is an affordable centrally located hotel with friendly staff. It was clean and it had a large room. I would recommend it to anyone wanting an affordable stay.
