The Sherwood Inn staff were very friendly.

The Sherwood Inn staff were very friendly. Beautiful setting on Lake Joseph. Great winter get away. Port Carling was very close and Bala only 10 minutes away. Both are pretty towns with nice lake views.

Loved the ridiculously peaceful environment, you're right on a lake, the BBQ grills, the access to free paddle boats and paddle boards, the unbelievable starry skies, the very friendly host and the nearby cute towns. Everything is there in one place. However, you do need a car, and while the internet is JUST fast enough for Netflix and streaming, don't expect to download or upload large files with ease. I'm a photographer so I had to wait till I got home to upload and process imagery taken from the trip.

    Absolutely beautiful area!

Absolutely beautiful area! Beautiful quaint shops and lots of walking. We brought our boat so that was fun. We were able to dock it at our hotel, The Muskoka Lakes Inn and Suites( great accommodations)The lakes were amazing with views of spectacular cottages. A few downsides, only one gas station and it closes at 6. No where to get coffee or breakfast before 900, and no convenience store to get last minute things. Unfortunately No night life like live music on a patio which was surprising considering the beautiful views of the water everywhere. But the people were super friendly and they have several great restaurants to choose between. Fantastic food at Coops and Turtle Jacks. And not to mention you can boat up to the LCBO😉

Port Carling is a sweet over priced little town with a bunch of snobby rich people from the USA and Toronto. If you can mingle with the locals you are giving yourself a real treat. They are wonderful. Too bad our government allows our beautiful country to be bought up by foreigners. Support the local companies!!!!

Port Carling was a cute town to explore with plenty of shops. The resort itself was quiet and private. The building was dated but comfortable. The eavestrough and roof definitely needed some tender loving care, but it did not affect our stay at all. Beautiful grounds, trails, games and beach were all within a short walk with plenty of benches and areas to sit. Service was excellent and accommodating and the food was very good, Our bed was very comfortable, I wanted to take the mattress home.

Port Carling is a cute little village with a wonderful grocery store not far from the Sherwood Inn. Most of the stores are closed in the winter, but Foodland Grocery Store is not your ordinary grocery. It is more of a 'specialty delicatessen' with a wonderful array of cheeses, cold cuts, smoked salmon, pates as well as a nice bakery inside. There is also hot food goodies such as chicken, fries, wings etc.

I thought cottage #2 was cute and cozy. I loved the theme and decor. I liked that you even had spices and coffee filters. I liked that it was not far to drive to with Port Carling or Bracebridge. I loved the kayaking and paddle boat and that PFD were available. I loved that there was a box fan for use. We always sleep with one as it also helps with noise distractions. I loved that a sensor light came on when we came home after dark. Host was very friendly and accommodating. Gave us 3 towels… I did not ask for them only inquired.

Breakfast was good..location was exceptional. My only real concern was the taste of the drinking water. It had an odd taste that was off-putting. Couldn't drink the coffee or tea because of it. Purchased bottled water which solved the problem for the most part..also had to purchase a small kettle from Port Carling for our morning tea as the room supplied coffee maker/kettle was very small. Overall we enjoyed ourselves very much however i think the water quality at the inn is something that should be reviewed by management.

The location is great, and the rooms were clean. Staff were really friendly and honest, we forgot the iPhone charger one day and the staff brought it to us the next day to our new room. We decided to try cedar wood and maple wood. Both rooms are beautiful and unique and were worth what we paid for. The food at the hotel restaurant was fabulous, definitely recommend dining in there. We also had fun with the canoe which is included with the room price! (Appreciated)

Room was extremely comfortable and homely. The best was super comfortable, and easy to sink into. The Staff were friendly and helpful, and able to give advice on the local area. The hotel is located in a great location, on the lake front and away from the main roads. It's quiet and peaceful and is a great place to stay. The breakfast had numerous options and extremely filling. Set me up for a day of exploring.

We were greeted nicely and professionally by Balilia (hope I remember&spell correct!). The suite was very clean, quite and we spent 2 unforgettable nights we enjoyed every minutes. It was not peak season and everything was so calm and beautiful under snow. Suite with King bed is absolutely great for a small family with kids or couples. We will come back again sometime near the fall.

The outdoor patio overlooking the lake was beautiful and relaxing. The room was clean and we enjoyed the bonfire in the evening! The food was very good, but expensive. We noticed the portions were smaller when we returned the second time this summer. There are other, cheaper options that are just as good in Bala and Port Carling so we did dine off-site one evening.

Our room was spacious, clean and functional. The staff were helpful and polite. The swim area wasn't crowded at all and offered plenty of water crafts/toys/ inflatables for guests to use. The hotel was in a great location just a couple minutes walk to nearby restaurants and shops. We will be back again.
