Air-Dale Lodge, hotel in Wawa

Located near Hawk Junction, 17 mi from Wawa, Air-Dale Lodge offers a restaurant and free WiFi. There is a fully equipped private bathroom with shower and free toiletries.

Lakeside location, peace and tranquility. The cabin is spacious and had everything you need for family. While the cabin is dated, there was evidence of effort to keep it clean. The breakfast is not included but was great value for the price and set in a nice lodge. The staff was accommodating to our late arrival. Will stay again.

It was smaller than I expected, but very friendly and quaint, and easy to navigate. I had a great time looking through the thrift shop and met wonderful people at the roadside restaurant called Krazy Fries. Food was great too! I was able to pick up all the supplies I needed for my trip, and had dinner at the sub shop on my last night.

    Beach and snowmobile trail enjoyable.

Beach and snowmobile trail enjoyable. Main road set up well with sidewalks; wide area of interlocking stone in downtown area with many benches to suit people of all abilities. North of 17 restaurant had very good food at a reasonable price. The Chinese restaurant was not as good as I expected and they only had take out.

    The beach was lovely.

The beach was lovely. The Goose was the main attraction, and that took about 15 minutes. The facilities at this location should be closed. It was really really nasty and stink. The Tim Hortons was closed cause they did not have enough staff on the night we arrived. Subway was awesome. Customers in the Tim Hortons walked around without masks, walked up to the counter and checked out all the breakfast meals that were partially there as they were being setup. NO ONE HAD ANY OBJECTIONS TO ANY OF THIS!

This was the last leg of a road trip in an EV Chevy Bolt from Southern Ontario to Northwest British Columbia. The booking was made late when I decided Wawa would be the stop for the night. With a late booking, you do not expect a lot. The room was very nice. Had a great sleep and an early start. Plus a Petro-Canada Fast Charger was close.

I was surprisingly happy with our experience at the big bird...

I was surprisingly happy with our experience at the big bird inn. Previous reviews were less then flattering. The property is undergoing renovations. We stayed in one of the “new rooms.” It was clean and fresh looking. Bathroom is big and modern in style. Laminate floors felt clean to walk on. I wish there were more convenient plug ins, to charge my phone and electronics. The parking lots was pretty full, so I was worried about the hotel being nosey. We were able to sleep just fine, without hearing nose from other rooms. There was a mini fridge in the room, but no coffee maker. However there was a coffee station in the lobby area by the front desk. The town of Wawa is small and industrial. Expecting a 5 star hotel is not going to happen. The Big Bird Inn was a great little hotel for a family stop over, as we drive across Canada. The staff were pleasant, room was clean, beds were ok to sleep on (though very high for kids). What more can a person ask for?! I would recommend the big Bird inn to others. Btw the Tim Norton’s (down the street) opens at 4am of you want coffee before you hit the road.

    Nature spectacular.

Nature spectacular. Wawa lake was very peaceful and not at all crowded. Unlike Lake Superior, it was very warm and swimmable. They do a brilliant job of displaying the history of the town and the boom and bust cycles (presently more towards the latter). Really humanises the place. Hiking is not as plentiful as other areas unless you include Lake Superior Prov Park. And running into bears on walks out of town is a constant possibility.

Big front yard and communal barbecue. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff were very friendly. Also, there is a great restaurant not far away with a patio over looking the river. It's within walking distance from the Parkway Motel. It's called Kinniwabi Pines Restaurant. The food is is really tasty and there is a great variety. Portion sizes were awesome too. You may need reservations in high season but I really, really recommend you eat at this restaurant, at least once!

A quirky little motel in the lovely little town of Wawa. The man that runs the motel was very friendly and helpful. They have freshly baked muffins and coffee in the office every morning, delicious 😋. There was a fridge and microwave in our room and the bed was very comfortable. Only a 5 to 10 minute walk from the town, with The Viking restaurant across the road, serving great meals and drinks.

It was a super cute and quaint old school motel with modern updates. It had a log cabin feel in the room, but with updated touches like modern bathrooms. Super quiet location, just 5 minutes south of Wawa itself. Room was comfortable and clean. Stayed here twice on our trip and got the same room both times. Would stay again.

Our first stay was in the motel section - room 007 and we loved our stay. This time around, we were given Cabin 4 and are now convinced that this is our new stop when traveling through Wawa. Exceptionally clean, very warm and comfortable and the owners are super friendly! 100% recommend!!

Love this motel. This was our 2nd stay at this motel just off highway 17. Older motel that has been updated inside and out. All finishing are good quality. Comfy beds and has nice area with table and chairs, bathroom immaculate. This motel exceeds many hotels that I have stayed in.

It's a convenient location right off the highway before hitting Wawa. Rooms are what you would expect from a motel, and they were clean. My son left his pillow in the room, so we called the staff, who were able to set it aside for us to pick up on our return through the area.

A jewel of a hotel outside of WAWA. Sometimes you look at a hotel/motel and think it might not be up to your liking and then you stay there and are pleasantly SURPRISED! Definitely would stay again and refer friends.

There was no breakfast. I loved the attention to detail, the evident pride of ownership and the fact that everything looked so clean and well cared for. You would think the owners were trained in a Swiss hotel school.
