Hotel Bären - the Alpine Herb Hotel, hotel in Wengen

Hotel Bären enjoys a quiet location in the car-free Wengen, just 350 metres from the Train Station, offering views of the Jungfrau Mountain and the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

The staff was extremly friendly. The woman that welcomed us (I presume she was the owner of the hotel) actualy gave us a larger room with mountain view free of additional charge. Me and my girlfriend are foodies, and we like fancy restaurants. The restaurant in the hotel was Michelin standard, for a reasonable price (Dinner costed around 150€ but it was worth of it). Very tasty and good portions.

The pick up and drop off from the train station on arrival and departure were most welcome. As was the welcome drink. Study was a great place to relax with a beer, from the honesty bar, and the selection of books. Breakfast was great with fresh produce and a good selection. Room had a lovely view. Bed very comfortable.

    I liked Wengen very much.

I liked Wengen very much. There’s a decent selection of restaurants and a few shops to browse around. It’s easy to get to and easy to get to Mürren and Grindelwald from. The scenery is stunning and everyone was very friendly. A great stay

Our first trip to Wengen and although it’s a trek to get there it is easy using Swiss rail network. Fabulous mountain village and benefits from being traffic free. The skiing was great although not extensive and other areas are a challenge to get to but enough above the town for a weeks casual skiing. Those who like to travel around may find it restrictive. There is one T bar lift to get back to Wengen if you traverse to Klein Schenigg which is a pain but you can either ski down to Wengen or take the train if T bars are not your thing ( not ours!). The town has a range or bars and restaurants but is peaceful. A few shops too selling ski wear, walking gear and Swiss stuff as you would expect. Local food shops are well stocked as well. We used the COOP mainly. They also sell firewood if your place has a log burner. We went to ski but would love to go back in warmer times to trek as it looks fabulous!

Wengen was straight out of a postcard! The town was charming and the views were second to none. The vacation was wonderful for us as a couple, but is also very family friendly. There were well behaved dogs with many of the visitors as well. I cannot wait to return!

The setting in the Jungfrau Region is jaw-dropping.

The setting in the Jungfrau Region is jaw-dropping. Small village feel with accomodations ranging from rustic to luxurious. Traffic-free, except for the occassional taxi or public works vehicle. Train access to high apline environment is unparalleled! Just wish the snow was better in late January.

Stunning scenery wherever you go. Good mix of transport options (train, gondola, cable cars) - just need a bit of patience as only runs every 15-30 mins. Great place for sledding, walking and just enjoying the majestic mountains.

Very cute town with lots of local places to eat/drink and shop on the on-season. Since we were there during slack, there were VERY few options. Wouldn't recommend unless it's full-on winter or full-on summer!

The location of the hotel is superb, just next to Wengen train station. We booked a family room for 4 so has an upperdeck for the kids and they love it. Reception staffs were very helpful and there was a dedicated luggage storage room in case you need to check out but still hanging around the area, in our case, we checked out at 7am and proceeded to Jungfraujoch, only returning to Wengen in the evening to collect our luggage and return to interlaken. Breakfast was good as well. Weather is awesome!

Great location near train station in Wegnen. View was good (though the views at the top of Wengen are better). The apartment was roomy and had a washer/dryer. Nice big deck. Lots of comfortable seating in living room - plenty of space for a large family. Good value considering its Switzerland. Many toiletries, kitchen supplies provided. Stove/oven cook really well and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need.

The apartment was perfect for our family of 6. It was spacious, comfortable and clean. The location is great. The whole town of Wengen is magical. You really can't go wrong with scenery and beauty. And everything is within walking distance. After a week on the road we really enjoyed being able to buy food at the grocery store and cook meals in the apartment. The kitchen was well stocked. We loved our stay!

Great hotel. Get the panoramic room and leave the curtains open at night to see the stars and in the morning to watch the sunrise over the mountains. The hotel kindly gave us a lift to the train station in wengen which is not too far away (5-10 min walk) but the hotel is a bit up a slope. Great buffet breakfast, games room with pool and ping pong. Free tea and coffee in the reception area. We will return!!!

We highly recommend staying in the Double Room with Panoramic Mountain View, my husband and I stayed there for 4 days and we were treated with a stunning view of wengen and lauterbrunnen valley! We promised to come back and stay in the same hotel (hopefully in the same room) next year. The room was clean, comfortable and breakfast was lovely too. Staff are very nice as well.

It is a wonderfully designed boutique hotel with nice outdoor seating areas. Our spotless ground floor room was wonderfully furnished, with a comfortable bed and a large shared outdoor patio area. The bathroom was nicely appointed with refillable soaps, shampoo, and a great shower. The location is in the center of Wengen, a short walk from the train station.

The room was very spacious and the staff were so kind and helpful. The hotel is very close to the station which is helpful when you have a lot of luggage and it’s right in the middle of town with an amazing view of the mountains. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and the next time I come to Switzerland I will definitely be staying there again.

Very nice breakfast with various meats, cheese and breads. I believe some or all of the breads were baked at the hotel. Elevator at the hotel made things easy instead of hauling luggage up stairs. Very friendly staff and even provided a car and driver to the Wengen train station up a hill.
