Sopó is Colombia off the beaten track, because it's mainly overlooked by Zipaquirá and Bogotá. This municipality is quite calm, kids are playing at the main square without problems. The city center is nice with some good restaurants and bars and houses in colonial style. The nature around Sopó is extremely beautiful, with high mountains, waterfalls and a páramo, a unique tropical ecosystem.
PS for some outstanding coffee and Argentinean pizza go to Tartine, for Italian pizza to Sopolemio and for Colombian food to Casa Aggreste.
PPS public transport is really good with frequent bus service to Bogotá and Briceño, the nearby Andean bus hub.
