A good location in downtown Turrialba. The staff were helpful and friendly and we made use of the outdoor common areas - a backyard garden and a rooftop deck. We liked the clean kitchen. The property is somewhat idiosyncratic, about half-way between a hotel and a hostel. I think they were transitioning to a hotel during our visit. We, a couple, had a dorm room with two bunk beds and a private bath across the hall; a bit unusual but the facilities were fine.

The best 2 days of my week vacation in Costa Rica. If you go with the mindset of adventure, disconnection from internet, camping style you will have a blast. This is a team of guys that do everything for you. They drive you , they cook , by the way excellent typical food, they are your rafting and adventures guides , the photographer, they eat with you and tell you stories and history of the place , the fauna , and flora etc, The experience is amazing ! Arturo , Fernando Negro and Jesus Andres were the best. Thanks for an amazing 2days

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Only breakfast on site but they ordered and picked up dinner food at a local restaurant for us. 30 min drive from Guayabo national monument. Great view from our deck, saw a keel billed toucan from the deck in the morning.

Great breakfast with options for local or western - this worked especially well for the kids. Very friendly check in time. Secure parking lot. They provided good recommendations for restaurants in the area.

The cabins have a breathtaking mountain view of Turrialba and Turrialba volcano. We traveled in March turtle and it was nice and cool at night. The cabins have everything you need to stay there for several days or weeks. We only stayed one night because it was a stopping point to Pacuare River Lodge for kayaking. We wished we had stayed longer. A beautiful breakfast is included and was served in their communal area where there’s also wine to purchase (after your long drive from San Jose, you’ll need a drink.) you park your car at the village in the bottom and ride up with your luggage on a 4 x 4 “Mule” and it takes six minutes up the hill. The couple that runs it and their staff are lovely. It would be a great midway point for a trip to Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean side. I would recommend taking the northern route there and not the one through Catago like we did.
I could imagine someone staying there for a few weeks to write a book!

We did a tour to the cheesemaking farm Herencia, high up on the slope of the volcano. Getting there via Google maps was a bit tedious but on the way back we got better directions - via Santa Cruz and Torito. The tour is a great experience! On the way back we visited the national monument at Guayabo.
We also tried to reach the Aquiares waterfall, but this is a bit difficult to find and we did not get there in time, had to turn back. The last stretch is climbing over big boulders along the riverbed.

Casa Turire is a real hotel, not a lodge, in Hacienda style, located in beautiful surroundings, so that you can perfectly relax. The hotel itself is also nice, rooms are big, the staff is super friendly. Anyhow the place gives the impression that it has seen better times which is a pity because of its beauty. A little bit of refurbishment would do very well. Especially when you consider that it is at the upper price end for accommodation in Costa Rica.
Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay there.

We had an awesome time at the lodge, which is in a beautiful and remote area (you are going to need a 4x4 or they’ll come and pick you up from the bottom of the trail). You are surrounded by nature and everything is really neat and clean! Breakfast is excellent! We did an horse riding tour with Walter and we just loved it! we spent only 2 nights but would love to spend some more time! The management was very friendly and helpful! totally recommend it! 10!!
The staff tries to please but lack of any staff with good English to figure out when checking out -how they want to be paid and how much to pay, and the hotel being run down with electric outlets, fridge not working, etc was disappointing. You need to pay in cash (we didn't know that ahead of time and it was a problem). The place is very difficult to find. There's a pretty view once you get there.
There is this absolutely spectactular overlook of the valley and Turrialba volcano a five minute walk from the house - all on the owner's property which is truly worth the 1/4 mile walk uphill. The house was clean and had everything you needed including a full kitchen. There were some neat birds for us in the yard including a trogon and lots of parrots.
We stayed for a couple of days to enjoy the wonderful Turrialba, San Rafael, Santa Cruz and San Antonio, it's a great small hotel with beautiful gardens and Luis was a fabulous host, providing excellent tips on activities that we could do in the area. We had a really good time, did some hiking, bird watching, waterfalls... would love to come back.
Mark and Annabelle are very nice people and they are very kind and helpful. It was a beautiful, quiet, private spot with many birds. Also, so hot and humid as the coastal areas. The dinners were filling, reasonable, and delicious. Also, if you want to go rafting on the Pacuare River or hike up Turrialba Volcano it would be a great place to stay.
it’s a bit outside of the city center and it’s a more quiet and very beautiful, lovely place, run by a local family☺️ the rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable. there two beautiful terraces with hammocks to enjoy the view on the volcano of turrialba. it’s a great place to rest and to get to know turrialba and Santa Rosa ☺️
Cabanas is situated in a particularly nice part of Costa Rica, close enough to the Monumento Nacional, a few water falls, the Turrialba and Irazu volcanoes and the town of Turrialba itself. The area is secluded and relatively quiet. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our cabin had good wi-fi.
nice free standing cabina in a amazingly beautifull botanic garden full of colourfull plants and birds.
great hideaway to explore turralbia and its great surroundings by rafting, hiking, biking etc.
Very friendly and helpfull owners.
traditional costa rican breakfast was also really nice.
Marc was so friendly, nice and helpful. He has also organized the rafting trip for us which was amazing and even drove us down to the pick-up place. We also had dinner at the lodge which was very good and the nature around is just incredible. We really enjoyed our stay!
Very nice lodge with spacious clean rooms. Accommodating host gives many tips for activities in this area. Breakfast was also delicious (with view of the vulcano). Unfortunately, we were only for a stopover, next time we will stay longer.
Everything!!! The Cabin, the views, the property, the Sloth the Toucans, Raquel and Daniel, dinner, breakfast - all so thoughtful and with love! We live in Costa Rica and cannot wait to return to this magical place! Muchas gracias!!
A beautiful, traditional house in the middle of the Aquiares coffee plantation. A relaxing place to stay with beautiful gardens, wonderful staff and easy access to the nearby activities -including the coffee tour which was great!
Perfect Location, nice views (especially at night), very close to Irazú, Turrialba Parks and Guayabo. Very charming welcome, all prepared perfectly. Best spot to relax and enjoy
