Hotel Grünwald is well located in a relatively quiet area.
Hotel Grünwald is well located in a relatively quiet area. There is good access to downtown Munich via the tram. Note however that the tracks for the tram area being replaced so there is bus service that will get you to the nearest U-Bahn station.
Also, in the vicinity there are grocery stores and some very good restaurants!

Surrounded with beautiful forests and very near to the river...
Surrounded with beautiful forests and very near to the river Isar, ideal to combine work with leisure in a short period of time. This part of the city, especially gives a taste of the bavarian way of life.

It is very easy getting around Grünwald.
It is very easy getting around Grünwald. Especially the nearness of the hotel to public transportation makes it very comfortable to visit down town and from there to other site seeing spots. There are also very nice restaurants and cafes in Grünwald. You can pick from Bavarian cuisine to Indian food. Several typical bavarian cafes with their countless cake and pastry sorts are also an extra bonus.
Hotel is in quiet outskirts of Munich on the edge of the Isar Valley. It is at the end of the tram line which runs into Munich. It is about 3 minutes to walk to the tram, further at the other end but by the river and in a nice part of Munich. (We could even swim in the river). The hotel itself is part of an old castle. Eggs were prepared fresh at breakfast. We were travelling with our son who had an adjacent and closely integrated room which was perfect.
The hotel is very central if you are visiting Grunwald and the surrounding area and it is next to Grunwald castle. There is a tram (#25) two blocks away from the hotel that takes you to the Munich town centre in 40 minutes . There is no lift facilities so if your room is on the second floor then you need to climb a lot of stairs. My window had beautiful views of the river but I was working from my room and it didn't have a desk so it was uncomfortable to work.
We stayed overnight on our way to Slovenia and this hotel was perfect for this. The breakfast was truly amazing, with lots of vegetarian and vegan options (including a variety of plant-based dairy options, both for cereals and for coffees). Really outstanding! The room was rather basic but clean and comfortable.
The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We so appreciated their efforts to line up transportation for us. The hotel location was ideal for our Munich stay with many dining and shopping options nearby. Be sure to check out the Leoli restaurant attached to the hotel.
The restaurant and the location are both exceptional. The hotel, being an old villa next to the town's castle, is filled with little nooks and crannies: delightful. Grunwald is known across Germany for being a better version of Beverly Hills, CA, and it didn't disappoint.
That was the best hotel during our trip to Germany! The main plus is the people who work there - polite, try to solve all the issues. And also I'd like to say that the restaurant is amazing - the food is delicious and the waiters are super cool! Thank you!
Lovely location, beautiful old palace and very nice staff. The breakfast was really lovely too. Added bonus: It was a super hot day and we were able to walk 5 mins from the hotel to swim in the Isar River which was so beautiful.
Great hotel! Location and food were perfect!
The only criticism was that our bedroom was a bit too small for two people and was on the top floor which was too warm in the summer, even with the windows open.
The hotel is beautiful and a great location. Easy walk to tram to the train into Munich but away from the hustle and bustle. The food was excellent. The room was large and comfortable for my family.
Great location in terms of view across the forest, and close to tram stop. Restaurant with hotel served delicious food. Shower was powerful, bed was comfortable
