Had room #12. Hotel has a full breakfast included every morning. Pool/garden area was very nice and kept clean. Rooms were clean/bug free. Air conditioning worked well and room had a ceiling fan. Off-street parking available. Rooms supplied with shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Also had bottled water in the small refrigerator.
Hotel has a great location at about 100 yards from the water. Walk to the left and there are quite a few restaurants and bars along the Playa Las Ballenas. Walk to the right and you're about a 10 minute stroll from all the shopping, restaurants and bars of the downtown Las Terrenas area. Just past the downtown, about a 20 minute walk along the beach from the hotel, is Playa Punta Popy, with more restaurants and bars.
A small colmado is right across the small side-street that the hotel is on (as well as two great restaurants Empanadas y mas & Restaurante Plaza Delfin) and a larger "convenience store" is right on the corner.

It's located at a walking distance to the beach and restaurants, which is great, if you're on budget and you're not after a long stay or planning to use the internet for work, this is the place for you.
Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it as the overall service, especifically when things go wrong, plus furnitures need improvements considerably. The place is rated as 3 star, but I would say it falls in somewhere 2.5 star.

Relaxing, beautiful place to spend time. Stayed for six days with my girlfriend and spent hours reading and chilling by the pool. Very tranquil. Location wise you’re ten minutes from the beach and restaurants. Highly recommend.

REally nice quiet hotel. Owner is a really nice canadian couple whot take good care of the hotel. Super clean, Bali style is not an exaggeration. Very good breakfeast, freindly and capable stuff. Located about 250 m walk from beach. Close to restaurants. I recommend the Takuma highly.
