It was a lot cheaper to stay in Astigarraga than San Sebastian, which was where we were originally headed, but still close enough to make it an easy drive. We were delighted with our accommodation, which was a rural idyll tucked up high on a hill, with stunning views and surrounded by orchards. Pleasant small town, a selection of restaurants to pick from. Excellent transport links as it is on the main north coast motorway so great for mid-journey stopovers. Be aware that we found ñ restaurants shut earlier here than in other areas of Spain so no guarantee that you can get food after 10:30 in the evening - this us the first time we have found this in northern Spain - normally this is the time things are just starting up.
