The location is great, a short walk to the beach or the shops. Been visiting Barbate since 2000 and love it there. The room we had wasn't huge but it was lovely. Nice and clean, comfy bed. Might I suggest a mirror on the desk under the tv for those of us who wear make up? ;)

self-check-in. Never met staff. Good process though. Close to the centre and beach, parking right in front of the building. Very nice smell and decoration in the property. Recommended!

The staff was really great, they allowed me to change rooms because I was so stressed out by the noise in the room I got at check-in (it looked over the main street). Still, I would have liked some help with luggage at arrival and departure, but they are understaffed and do what they can under the circumstances.
Everything was very clean, all utilities working, soap, shower gel, and toilet paper dispensers. Shower curtain spotless, the kind of details that make your stay more comfortable.
Both rooms I staid in smelled really nice, I really appreciated this. The wi-fi was also working very well (especially given the average quality of the internet in Southern Spain).

parking, and this is September, and mid week, is tricky, my hotel had no parking, maybe the supermarkets need to be told to allow overnight parking! we were 200m from 2 massive empty parking lots and they were empty all night

Obviously a resort prized by Spanish people and very few foreign visitors were to be seen. People seemed determined to make my stay enjoyable although I am sure Barbate has rarely entertained anyone with less Spanish language than me. Really calming environment with the traditional siesta still observed. Great value for money in Barbate and the restaurants and bars seem not to have cottoned on to fleecing tourists. Good food and nicely serviced. People generally very ki d and helpful. Nice place and the time warp is an attractive feature. Barbate won me over and the accommodation must have played a part. (Although there are issues to be resolved.)

Barbate is a working fishing port which was hit badly during the financial recession and suffered one of the highest unemployment rates in Europe. With its two splendid beaches and plentiful supplies of local gastronomic delights such as bluefin tuna and retinta beef, tourism is the natural way forward. It's good to see new bars and restaurants springing up, attracting plenty of visitors even at the end of the season, and the local people are as friendly as ever.

Ok but could it hard to eat here food very poor quality for a Spanish resort. All fast food in what should have been a typical Spanish fish restaurant. Did not like service or food. Found it expensive and poor quality

Great food.
Great food. Barbate is a coastal town and has access to locally sourced sea food. Not all eateries are good though, so be a little choosy. Off the beaten track (namely nearly everywhere away from the beach) is a little run down and edgy. There seems to be a fair amount of local disenfrachisement and poverty, but no worse than you would see in most towns and cities in the UK these days. There is a bus station with routes to and from Cadiz, Vejer de La Frontiera and Los Canos de Meca. I can highly recommend the whole area.
Very well maintained and equipped property, excellent for our one week vacation. Great pool to relax and unwind during a hot day. The location although a few kilometres away from Barbate is in a quiet neighbourhood, and the distance is of no concern if you have a car at your disposal. Good communication with the host prior to our arrival, which helped us with an earlier check in.
The apartment is small but nicely designed. The facilities are of a high quality and a lot of care has been taken. The owners were very kind. There were some tiny issues which they resolved quickly and helpfully. If you’re looking for a Barbate base this is perfect and you can function independently. I would recommend it.
the apartment was great and the location too....just Barbate doesn't have enough or is so pretty but the price dictated where we stayed.....its a good base for visiting near more beautiful places and cheaper than other locations.....the people in Barbate we met are very friendly.

Radio in the room was a fantastic surprise. The room was very modern and stylish and all the facilities in the room we’re excellent. Its a very cozy and nice ‘bring your own hotel’. They dont have a bar or restaurant but big supermarkets around the corner.
The hospitality, the owner gave us good tips and honored our reservation, although closed. The decor and hotel roofbar was a wonderful surprise. The town is not touristy, which is definitely hard to find.
