perfect location for hiking the ruta del cares (there are other two hikes that start near the hotel).
the bed was comfortable. everything was very clean. we had a nice view from the room. decent wifi. the shower had a good pressure and hot water. everything is very simple and old bur great value for money.
breakfast was plentiful, but mostly bread. you will get toast, cheese and pastries (2 pieces per person of each), coffee / tea, orange juice and some packed sweet breads. restaurant is good.

Poncebos is a great starting point for treks in los Picos.
Poncebos is a great starting point for treks in los Picos. The funicular train up to Bulnes is here as is the path that goes up to Bulnes. You can also start the Cares gorge walk here. This is one of the most beautiful walks in Spain and accessible to all ages.

The roads are packed with cars, so it's nice to wake up and already be near the trails. It is very comfortable with great rooms and beds. Bathrooms are shared, but there are plenty and they are very clean and spacious. Breakfast is provided and the restaurant serves lunches, tapas and dinner as well. There are buses scheduled from Arenas de Cabrales to Poncebos; the bus stop is a 5-10 min walk from the hostel depending on how much luggage you are carrying.KristenSlovenia

Ideal for exploring this amazing area. Room was simple and comfortable, a spacious hotel lounge with a restaurant, bar and outdoor activities shop. The star however was Manolo, the effervescent, warm and generous host for whom nothing was too much trouble.

Owner was very friendly and breakfast was good (freshly baked croissants with pressed orange juice). Free parking on road in front of hotel. For anyone with mobility issues, there are no rooms available at ground level, up a flight of stairs to reception and then up again to rooms.

It’s very basic, but it’s all you need in the mountains - a bed, hot water and some breakfast. I am not sure if Poncebo offers anything better at this point
