We love this area. As we have a dog it's great to find a ground floor garden room that accepts dogs. Good French style breakfasts available at an additional cost.

We stayed in a spacious family room with a fully equipped kitchen and a garden. Loix is lovely and quiet. There is supermarket round the corner and a farmers market too (open all mornings during summer holidays) as well as a bakery. Swimming pool is great! From Loix it's easy to cycle to any other towns. There are two cycle hires in Loix.

Great choice of restaurants catering for all tastes.
Great choice of restaurants catering for all tastes. Chez Remi, Ars en Re tremendous with an extensive fish menu. La Cabane de la Patache, Les Portes en Re is a lovely restaurant on the beach, booking essential. Excellent cycle hire in Ars en Re, 'Balade & Vu' run by very helpful people, unless you have experience riding an electric bike stick to a traditional bike as the island is very flat and easy to cycle. Lovely, extensive market.

Apparently the Île de Ré can get crowded in July/August but we visited the last week of June, which was perfect. The south side of the island (where Saint Martin is located) is more touristic with the usual tourist shops but Ars (as well as St. Clément and Les Portes) is much more authentic. Great place to start your bicycle tours. The village boasts a few nice restaurants and, very nice for people of our age, not much of a nightlife. Nice beach as well!

Small village with harbour - plenty of places to eat.
Small village with harbour - plenty of places to eat. Exceptional restaurant on beach - such a small island - all places within a few minutes drive. We wouldn't dream of going there in the summer -
heaving - just like Arcachon
This was our first visit to Ile de Re, and the village is perfectly situated as well as this hotel being very central. We loved the slight ‘quirkiness’ of the hotel, with a very helpful welcome (we were late arriving..) rooms near reception and breakfast room with many small candles lit each night. The staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful, and the whole stay was better than we anticipated.
It is very convenient to everything. it was nice walking right out the door, turning a corner, and having a few cafes and nice restaurants next door. Also, easy to walk to Pastry shops, bike shops, etc. Further, excellent bike trails are easy to get to from the apartment. Also, it had a nice vibe being right on the harbor. Further, it had air conditioning, washing machine, and other nice amenities.
Great position in the centre of the Island, close to beach and Ars en Re centre. Hotel facilities are great, outdoor pool is lovely. Breakfast is good value at 17 euros and lots of it. Gym has cardio and free weights. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Rooms very clean and tidied each day. Bike hire on site and 10 euros a day. The bed was super king size and ultra comfortable!
Charming, chic and very comfortable accommodation in a peaceful area. Friendly and very helpful hosts, excellent breakfast is available for an additional charge. Ideally located for cycle hire, restaurants and grocery store, all within a 15 min walk.
Very good little hotel in front of an empty beach. Perfect if you have a small pet that comes with you so you can walk them right in the beach. It is also very close to the town Ars en Ré which is very cute and close to beaches that accept dogs :)
Christine is an exceptional host. Les Cles d’Ars is a stylish, elegant and very comfortable hotel and Christine is very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is beautifully prepared and delicious. We will definitely be returning!
Ambience, chic style, friendly helpful staff, position !! A truly exceptional hotel to stay in located in a fabulous quiet part of the island. Exceptional local resturant and fun bars. Will definitely re-visit.
