Macinaggio is a living village with a sizeable and interesting marina, filled with a variety of boats including real fishing boats. We loved looking at all the boats. The water of the marina was clean and beautifully coloured, so we took lots of great photos. There are clean public toilets and showers right at the parking area of the marina, a bonus as public toilets are hard to find in France! There are several cafés and restaurants along the main strip, between the marina and the main road, we ate at the pizzeria one night which was fine, though not outstanding - the view over the marina was magnificent in the changing evening light. We bought bread and pastries the next morning at a very nice and well stocked boulangerie. As we stayed only one night we didn't visit the local beach.

The location is great if you want a relaxed holiday!!

The location is great if you want a relaxed holiday!! The beaches look fabulous but it is difficult to enter the sea due to large build up of a dense fibrous material along all the shore lines! However, some beaches do have access ramps. The restaurants all offer similar mediocre food and it is expensive!! There are some nice bars doted about and a fabulous bakery that saved the day!!! I felt the whole place could do with a good clean, lots of cigarette butts discarded!!!!! Perhaps not the smokers fault, no where to dispose of them and a distinct lack of bins!! The resort is easy to navigate but a car is essential if you want to get out and about! I think you could go a bit stir crazy otherwise!!! Note: the roads are tricky in places with numerous bends! Suggest you opt for a small robust hire car!!!! Overall it is a nice quiet place to stay and felt very safe!!! I found most of the people who live in this region were not particularly friendly despite our efforts to chat!! We visited Centuri and felt more comfortable in this location! Parts of Corsica are beautiful but I will not being returning.

Macinaggio had everything within walking distance.

Macinaggio had everything within walking distance. Lovely marina, a few shops and good restaurants. Seafood amazing. Beaches also within walking distance but either shingle or have lots of seaweed. Beautiful scenery though. Would definitely recommend, but perhaps not for families.

Good base for coastal walks and boat trips.

Good base for coastal walks and boat trips. Unfortunately the nearest beach was covered in seaweed, which made it almost unusable. Only an hour from Bastia by car (and there are a couple of buses there every day as well).

We used the spot as a jumping off point to visit Cap Corse. It worked well for that. The hotel was in the hills overlooking Maccinago so it has a beautiful view of the sea. Rooms were small but comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very nice and one can get dinner as well. Dinners are family style and abundant. Host and hostess speak only French.

The staff is super nice, communication was great. The room was very clean, the bed was extra comfortable. Although it wasn't high season, there were a lot of other people staying at the hotel but it was still very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was great, all in all, I would recommend this place and stay there again. :)

The hotel was very reasonably priced and the views from the balcony were stunning. Overlooking the harbour, it is in the perfect position to enjoy the town and bars and restaurants and shops. Slightly annoying techno (why??) from a bar nearby but the double glazing solved that. All in all it was great

The hotel located in a quiet neighbour only a five to ten minute walk away from the centre/ closest super market. The owner is very friendly and the buffet breakfast is top-notch if you like a French style breakfast with sweets.
