We only visited Poitiers for a one night stopover on our way to another destination. We strolled around town visiting some shops and had a nice dinner across the street from the hotel. We can't evaluate the city and surroundings much further due to the fact that we didn't see much beyond our hotel stay and meal out in the evening. The centre of Poitiers was charming with a mix of architecture and some wonderful churches and religious buildings in the Romanesque style. During our stay, we enjoyed a lovely walk along the river and in the Parc (Blossac). We visited a lovely Lebanese restaurant (the Beyrouth) where we had a delicious lunchtime meal. There was also a market in the square near to L'Eglise de Notre Dame. Although we enjoyed our visit, there was something lacking for us: the buzz and excitement of other cities perhaps. Also, as we were using public transport and there were issues with the riots affecting the late running of the buses, we didn't visit Futuroscope, but imagine it would be well worth the visit.TrishUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Poitiers was a revelation and provided a beauty that I wasn't expecting. Walking the streets to the Cathedrale Saint Pierre, we were taken back to an era one could only imagine. We imagined life during the 19th and 20th centuries and how traditional French buildings and architecture have been re-purposed for life in the 21st. We visited two central squares and eat in one of them and it was delightful

It is a lively town. We arrived on Friday afternoon and the square was just starting to fill with young people at some of the bars around the square which gave it a nice buzz. The next morning there was a market - great for people watching and getting an idea of daily life there.TanaAustralia

Essentially on a business park, there is a grassy area to rear of property - ideal for dogs and good parking. Close by are intermarche supermarket (for cheap fuel) and a great bakery (Ma Boulangerie) for baguettes coffee etc for onward journey. In these covid times, there is also a pharmacy closeby (Pharmacie Des Rocs) offering rapid antigen testing with certificate for travel - no reservation required

There is cheap parking just across the road at Parking Tournai. Although it's just outside the old city walls, you can walk to the centre in about 20 minutes. It is a budget hotel, so don't expect large luxurious rooms, but its good value and very comfortable with clean minimalist rooms, our room was very quiet and we got a good night's sleep which is the most important thing.

The staff were great - attentive and quick to answer any questions. The buffet breakfast was also superb and excellent value. We would most certainly stay here again if we ever visit Poitiers in future. Thanks to all at the hotel for a really pleasant stay!
