Our room was in the attic with beautifully restored timber beams. Although we spoke hardly any French and Pascal spoke hardly any English, he was so pleasant and welcoming. Lovely nature and always happy and smiling. You could tell he was proud of the Chateau. They also kindly offered an evening meal although we arrived on the night the restaurant was closed. The breakfast in the morning was great served our the friendly host, Pascal.
This was a good option for our stop over on the way to Lourdes.
The Natur'Hôtel is ideally located in Ménesplet near Montpon Menestrol at the limit of the Dordogne/Girond region and close to the famous Saint-Emillion and Pomerol vineyards.

The location was off the main tourist grid, which we appreciated, but we had no problem finding it despite our lack of familiarity with the place. We really enjoyed the gardens, which were idyllic. The breakfast was great and I suspect that the 5 or 6 different types of jam all came from fruit raised on the farm. The owners were responsive when we had to return for a forgotten mobile phone.
Villefranche is a lovely, working village in rural france.
Villefranche is a lovely, working village in rural france. It is very close to a large lake with a beach, picnic areas and walks. In the summer it is perfect for families.
The village itself has a restaurant, a bistro and a cafe.
During the summer the village hosts Friday night markets in the square with a variety of local cuisine.
A car is needed to travel around. St Emillion is not far away and is a lovely place to visit, not just for the wine!
Bergerac is about 40 kilometres, with shops etc.
