This place is located in a really beautiful area, the rooms are well taken care of (clean, comfortable, and very tastefully decorated), but more importantly, Sue and Mike (and Rusty!) are absolutely amazing. It was a pleasure to meet such kind people, and we were really sad to leave. And the breakfasts were the best!

There is plenty of activities you should try and I will advise everybody to take food with you because it’s very difficult to find a nice food so it’s better to cook your own food price why it outside it’s not bad but not good food

It was a perfect rural retreat.
It was a perfect rural retreat. We had a car and we’re able to visit many places of interest in under an hour. The weather was awful but we expected that as we stayed at the end of December and start of New Year and part of our hope for the mini-break was to snuggle up and stay cozy for a peaceful get away after the stress of Christmas. Additionally, as enthusiasts of narrow gauge railways we were able to drive a little way to visit a couple of different Raikways and Castles too. This stay was exactly what we hoped and we would happily have stayed longer, life permitting! We will consider returning for another break.

Fabulous area with lots to do.
Fabulous area with lots to do. We were given tips about places to wild swim and walk. We were there as we were goi g to Portmerion but will defiantly return to explore. A bonus for the future was finding out about local yoga teacher who hosts retreats

Loved the people and the village/location.
Loved the people and the village/location.
The room however was extremely basic, but clean. Staff were very helpful. A very lovely project for the local people who understandably wish to preserve their local establishment and they support it extremely well.

We chose to stay here as we were visiting Zip World Caverns and the location was perfect. Less than 10 minutes drive took us to two very nice pub restaurants - we managed to book into 'The Grapes' which was amazing!

A sleepy village with a panoramic views of the mountains.Fantastic village shop that sells everything.Fantastic walks .It’s well worth a 5 minute drive to the next town to sample the fish and chips. We did the Lyn Trawsfenadd walk 10 miles of out standing country side.Well worth the stay recommend the village and the pengwin arms.
The rooms are well-appointed and large, the beds are comfy and the ensuite is clean and pleasant to use. All in all, above the standard of a typical chain hotel.
The breakfast is suitably filling, perfect for a day spent walking. There is spacious parking and he scenic location is perfect as a base for nearby attractions. Above all, the staff are friendly and provided great service.
I stayed in this hotel on business, and I liked it so much that it was an easy choice to come back on holiday.
Really lovely staff. Everyone very friendly. Room was clean and functional. Plenty of teas/coffees etc as well as fresh towels. Amazing views from the hotel overlooking the valley and mountains. Although the hotel currently does not have a chef, the staff went out of their way to provide a good varied continental breakfast including gluten free options and welcomed bringing your own food / takeaways into the hotel and using their facilities and equipment.
The hotel was clean, simple and comfortable. The staff and food was excellent. My husband and I really enjoyed our stopover. The people were exceptional ! They were not only friendly but made you feel part of their community. We had the privilege to listen to The Welsh Mens Choir sing a night in the pub, which is one of my favorite experiences! Thanks to everyone at the Y Pengwern for
giving us a wonderful lifetime memory !
The whole community pub vibe is great, fantastic atmosphere in the bar on Friday night, you really feel the 'volunteer' thing, people are clearly trying hard. Price point is realistic and it was nice and warm. No C19 idiocy, lovely people, good parking, nice beer and company. If price is important this place does the job and it's unusual nature makes for a more interesting stay than a banal chain hotel.
This little hotel run by community has absolutely fantastic atmosphere. Has a perfect location with beautiful views. Our room was spacious , very light, clean and comfortable. Food in restaurant was delicious and they offer great continental breakfast. Another huge plus of this hotel is the staff . Very friendly and helpful. This is the great place to stay.
We have stayed at the hotel before it is basic but as it is run by the community and with Covid restrictions they do what they can to make it comfortable.don’t be put off with the exterior of the hotel or in fact the interior just enjoy it for what is is. We will be back
Lovely hotel, nicely decorated rooms and very clean. Really helpful and friendly staff. We were there for a specific event and it's a shame we were a late arrival and then had to leave immediately after breakfast so didn't get chance to properly relax. Would stay again
The hotel is a 'proper' hotel as opposed to a 'B&B' and even has a lift. It is very stylish and swish. The room was big and tastefully decorated in a modern style. Shower was great. We didn't go to the bar, but it looked nice. BUT...
Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were comfortable, clean and cosy. Location was ok lovely village but not many other pubs & restaurant nearby if you wanted to wander. However the evening meal was really lovely.
Very nice hotel, quiet location, extremely helpful staff as I messed up booking dates, but it wasn't a problem. Good room, lovely food (the lasagne omg) handy base for mid or North Wales
Just outside of Ffestiniog, nice location. only down side they don’t provide towels, which i didn’t realise as i was on my bike. Friendly host, very clean. i would stay again
