Hogs Back Hotel & Spa, hotel in Godalming

Stay at the Farnham Hog’s Back Hotel and experience everything you would expect from a hotel company.

The hotel was fine for our purposes but, I wouldn't rush there again. I found the receptionist on arrival rude and she didn't talk to us re breakfast which we didn't realise wasn't included. (It was fine, we paid for it in the morning, and I felt a good value breakfast, but it would have been sensible if the receptionist had asked us about it). It also would have been nice if she'd seemed happy to see us at all. The breakfast staff we super nice so kudos to them. The pool etc is good and was definitely the highlight of the children's stay. We also liked the gardens and walking to the Hogs Back Brewery down a nice footpath. The fact the rooms aren't refreshed daily is a bit of a pain if you drink your tea and milk on day one and use up your loo roll (thanks kids) we also only got 4 tissues in the box - one each- which is hilariously miserly. But we asked for more milk no probs. I just found the lack of room refreshing for the price we paid a little sad. We recently paid less at a hotel on the Isle of Wight and got better care. Overall, I would say this is an decent hotel for business or if you just need somewhere to crash for a wedding. It's not a holiday place.

I had breakfast in Witherspoons, it was fine. I was shown around by family i was visiting. Do not stay at the Inn on the Lake, unless you have come into money. If you have stay somewhere else anyway.

Godalming is an attractive small town on the edge of the Surrey Hills. We’re regular visitors, our daughter and family live there. The area around the high street has some good shops, nice restaurants, pubs and it seems like there’s a new coffee shop opening each week.

An interesting little town that has retained much of its character despite morphing into another notch in the London commuter belt. The centre has some good independent shops. The park has a poignant memorial to the radio operator on the Titanic. The meadows next to the Wey navigation offer pleasant walks. The woods at Winkworth arboretum are spectacular all year round. Road and rail links to London and the south coast are very good.

I know NOTHING about Godalming - apart from the fact that it has a branch of Waitrose and that booking.com has decided that we stayed there - we were actually on the outskirts of a village called Compton, nearest main town Guildford.

We travelled to spend time with relatives in Godalming. Should you wish to travel to London Central, it can be easily done from Godalming or Farncombe rail stations +/- 40 mins. A visit to Guildford for extended shopping can be achieved easily by car or public transport.

Comfortable apartment in a good location in the centre of Godalming main street. It was well furnished, comfortable bed and clean. Also very quiet which was nice given its location. There were reverse air con units in each room so nice and warm. Wi-fi was good. Kitchen was clean and had everything included although we didn't actually use it apart from making tea. The price was competitive for the time of year and if that was the case in the future we would stay again.

The Withies Inn is the quintessential English countryside inn and pub experience. The pub is warm and inviting with delicious food and drink, fireside seating, local flavor and an authentic pub ambience. The rooms are beautifully appointed with lush bedding and towels. The proprietor, Hugh, and his team are friendly and professional. I highly recommend The Withies Inn for your next visit to Surrey.

Withies far exceeded our expectations. The rooms are nicely updated and comfortable while the restaurant and bar remain authentic and historic. Hugh and his team could not have been more welcoming. Breakfast was one of the best we had in England. We would definitely stay again.
