Hawnby is a peaceful beautiful location within a short distance of Rievaulx Abbey and the busy bustling town of Helmsley which has a really good choice of restaurants and cafes. If you are looking for a quiet unspoilt location for sightseeing and walking then this is the place for you.

On arrival, we were a little disappointed at not having an en-suite room as requested, however, the owner, Judy quickly provided an alternative cottage, The Smithy just across from the main hotel. Judy is friendly and made us welcome, given that she was super-busy preparing for a wedding the next day we really appreciated her efforts. We couldn't have been happier and have already booked a return visit.
