The Birch Hotel, hotel in Hurstpierpoint

Situated in the peaceful West Sussex town of Haywards Heath, The Birch Hotel features a courtyard restaurant and is located just 13 miles from Brighton’s bustling city centre.

The room was very comfortable and well appointed. Both at dinner in the bar and at breakfast I was fortunate to encounter a really courteous, sensitive and thoughtful lady server who went beyond the call of duty to make me feel comfortable as a female guest alone. She was cheerful and alert. I don't know if you can identify her but I'd like to say a special thank you. I was visiting a sister in the hospital who had a hip replacement after an accident and this really helped me.

YHA Truleigh Hill, hotel in Hurstpierpoint

Honestly, everything was so lovely. It's in the beautiful filing chalk hills near Shoreham-by-Sea. My husband, children, and I took a long long walk before the late 5pm check-in. We were lucky because it was a lovely day. The cafe is really lovely. It's the living area, and there are panoramic views of the rolling hills from the wall to floor windows with big comfy armchairs and tables for eating. My kids enjoyed playing the board games, which was such a lovely change from them gaming. I couldn't believe how clean and spacious and comfortable the family room was! Unlike Premier Inn, you can open the window and breath the lovely sea air, but it was also toastie warm, so I made sure to turn off the radiator before sleeping (like to sleep with the window open.) the bedding was all really clean and very good quality. Very good mattresses, too! I was surprised how brilliant it was, to be honest. We were really comfortable. Shared toilets and showers, bit that was no problem. Everything was very clean. We had a corner sink in the room. Oh, the food is good, too. It's not cheap, though. A family meal cost the same as it would in a pub or restaurant. There's a kitchen you can use, though, so if you bring your own food, very economical.

Lovely friendly couple in a very old farmhouse they had restored. A long tarmac lane on a private road to get there, this meant that you had piece and quite and could only hear the birds in the trees surrounding the cottage. A rebuilt barn next to the cottage for breakfast or just sitting in the evening with tea and coffee facilities. Would need a car or taxi to get to the cottage if you have any heavy luggage. I went to far and knocked on the very end house which was incorrect, it is the first one on the left hand side with a carpark round the back of the farmhouse.

Great location for a traditional English farm house .

Great location for a traditional English farm house . Good food and a warm welcome . The house is stunning inside and has such character with its low beams and stone floor . It’s not a new build which is exactly why I wanted to stay there . We don’t building like this in Scotland and it’s a pleasure to stay there .
