A friendly pub with lovely rooms. We loved the atmosphere in the restaurant, excellent food, and very good options for gluten-free, which was so appreciated! Extensive wine list, quality cocktails and attentive service.

Room large, bed comfortable and lots of free extras in the form of real coffee, cider, milk etc. The food (we had a sunday lunch) was very good though the desserts were not that exciting (dairy ice cream option would have been nice)

The location is perfect, an easy walk to town square and railway.
Loved the atmosphere of Chris' attic room. It was warm, spacious with a very nice ensuite.
Amazing breakfast that would set anyone up for the day.

What a gem this place is - perfect for a family visiting the area but also wanting to switch off and drink in some nature at a slower pace. The place itself is lovely, well-appointed (TV with services, games, dishwasher etc) and comfortable, with great beds and shower - and stocked with breakfast goodies. And uninterrupted views of green fields and trees. Outside was heaven for a small explorer - trampoline, bikes to ride, trees to climb. And all of this was minutes away from some of the best family attractions around - the Winchester Science Centre, Marwell Zoo, pony riding sessions and proper pubs. Oh and communication with Shannon was perfect - there when you need anything and very considerate. Bliss.

Owner was very hospitable and welcoming. She allowed us to charge our ev with a convenient outside socket and kindly agreed to heat up our noodles, as we had mistakenly thought we'd booked a self-catering unit (our mistake!).
The rooms were tidy and comfortable.

Clean, tidy, great location to the centre of Petersfield, just a great place to stay.

The room smelt of smoke, as if it was ingrained into the fabric of the room. Old cobwebs behind the doors and furniture, mould around the bath. Comfortable bed and clean linen. Curtains made the room dark which I enjoyed. But, car park incredibly tight for safe parking during my stay. Contractors vehicles parked everywhere and had the engines running when no-one was in them. This lasted for about 1-2 hours from dawn and the same in the evening disturbing my sleep and others. From the very early hours(6am) commercial contractors vehicles being loaded with heavy objects literally right outside my room. The walls were paper thin meaning I could hear every sound no matter what the time. This wasn't very good considering I booked this hotel for a course I was attending and needed the rest and sleep which unfortunately I did not have. The breakfast was average and just about acceptable with no gluten free bread. The evening meal was expensive considering it was probably brought in and reheated. On a plus note the staff seemed pleasant and helpful.
Overall, this hotel needs updating and lots of tlc.

The pub is actually in East Meon and not Privett which is just down the road, the village of East Meon is gorgeous, full of beautiful old houses, many thatched, all in a quiet valley surrounded by beautiful countryside, there's a beautiful old church, two pubs one of which also serves as a cafe and a small village shop. For more amenities the market town of Petersfield is only a short drive away

You should have a car because public transportation is not available on Sundays and Mondays. we had the idea to go with my daughter’s car, but my son in law changed the plan so we finally went using a taxi. The location is good to visit some attractions in the area. We had to take another taxi to visit Jane Austen’s house that is about 6 miles from there.
The hotel crew was very friendly and help us all the time. We were very happy.
We had breakfast and lunch and appreciate the service. The Sunday roast special was excellent and we could see many people came to enjoy it with a very good service. Our grand sons were very happy all the time.

Very clean room with good facilities - Everything worked.
Our room was not overlooked by others, and the hotel site is surrounded by open countryside, so there was peace and quiet; and the restaurant below could not be heard.
We had made other arrangements and so did not eat or drink in, but the menus looked good.
