Traditional British breakfast well cooked with many options and choice available. Great variety on the specials board as well.

The Bridge House, hotel in Puncknowle

Situated in Bridport, just 5 minutes’ drive from the coast, we offers free Wi-Fi and free parking on site. Weymouth can be reached in 30 minutes by car.

A beautiful period house decorated in keeping with its age and full of interest. Our room was well appointed, dinky but we expected that. It was lovely, clean and warm. The owners and staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast offering was excellent, a good choice of fruit, cereal, hot drinks etc and the cooked breakfast menu was extensive and catered for all tastes. The vegetarian option was first class. Located a 5 minute walk into the main town we found this perfect, close to restaurants, coffee shops etc but away from the hustle and bustle. A bus stop was just opposite the hotel if you didn’t want to use the car for exploring. The hotel had a handy car park for guest use and the pretty garden was a quiet haven for relaxing with a bar facility. There was also a communal guest lounge for guests to use.All in all the Bridge House was the perfect choice for us.

Tiny little place - but great for walking (except the weather was wet and windy when we were there!). The position is good for exploring / travelling to other popular areas of Dorset - inland and coastal.

Such a beautiful area, typically Dorset country. Rolling hills, gentle green slopes, undulating countryside, beautiful sea views. Good pubs in the area without having to go too far. Beautiful villages close by, attractive houses, a few independent small shops but mostly keeping the villages as close to how you might expect a Dorset village to look.

Puncknowle (pronounced Punnel) is a very quiet village...

Puncknowle (pronounced Punnel) is a very quiet village situated just North of Swyre on the B3157 (the most amazing views of Chesil Beach and The Fleet when travelling east towards Weymouth). Surrounded by rolling hills and arable farmland with easy access to Dorchester, Bridport or Weymouth, it would make an ideal base for walkers and cyclists alike. Chesil Beach and the Jurassic Coast can be reached by foot or bike via West Bexington (under 2 miles), and there are plenty of good tea houses or traditional country pups in the surrounding villages. The stretch of coastline between West Bay in the West and Portland in the East offers some of the most interesting geology and the coastal road is packed with stunning views.

The facilities were clean, withh everything needed gor a very comfortable stay. The beautiful scenery and area, quite location with fantastic views. The access to beach close by and local town and facilities. The property was at the end of a road surrounded by fields, easy access to footpaths for walking the dog. Local pub, the Parlour restaurant and farm shop. We would definitely recommend staying at the Cabins Retreat.

The hotel is in a beautiful area of Dorset, overlooking Chessil Beach, and as it was our Wedding Anniversary asked if it would be possible to have a room with a sea view, which they kindly did. The room was lovely, very comfortable, facing south, with beautiful sunshine when we arrived. West Bexington is within driving distance of other interesting towns, such as Bridport, Lyme Regis, Abbotsbury and Weymouth

Great breakfast, good choice of cereals and a cooked meal. I particularly enjoyed the Classic FM greeting us when we entered our room, such a nice touch. We found the staff very friendly and willing to answer any queries you might have. The location was absolutely amazing, and the whole atmosphere of this beautiful hotel exceeded our expectations. I would definitely recommend a stay there to friends.

A delightful thatched cottage in a good village location within 2 miles of Chesil Beach. Our holiday was out of season and we were greeted with a lovely warm centrally heated house. The cottage had bags of quirky character.
