We enjoyed an excellent starter and main course in the restaurant on our first night. The staff were friendly and helpful, with one lady going out of her way to find us some pictures and show us rooms relating to W.S.Gilbert, one of the reasons we had wanted to visit the house. The house itself is well looked after, the gardens beautiful, the location tranquil.
The hotel has plenty of car parking - given the location of the hotel, up a long private drive and well away from the road, along with good lighting and CCTV, it felt a secure place to leave our car.
Despite its shortcomings - see below - we did enjoy our stay at Grim's Dyke and will visit again in the future. A little extra care and effort would bring it up to the four star experience that the house deserves.
Boasting sumptuous rooms with 42-inch plasma-screen TVs and Bose iPod docks, The Grove is set within 300 acres of beautiful parkland.

So much to love here! Surroundings/Location was amazing. Room (deluxe king) was so lovely, comfortable and really clean! Check in and out was really easy, quick and efficient.
Spa facilities were OK, nothing necessarily to shout about, but they were nice.
Food was amazing! We dined in the Glasshouse where they have their buffet. Not an ordinary buffet, it's around £80, but the choice is incredible, the quality was 10/10, flavours etc, just amazing. Staff were super attentive. Definitely didn't get £80's worth, but only because I was so full. But it was nice to be able to eat one plate of curry, then pasta then a roast! Great selection.
Breakfast was also a buffet and with a great selection once again. Unlike a lot of buffets, it was actually very clean and replenished constantly.
We booked as it was our 10 year anniversary, the hotel had some anniversary chocolates waiting in our room which was a lovely touch!
Overall, amazing stay, just looking at the diary to try and book 2 nights this time!

The food is very good, breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very high quality. The staff are very welcoming and the rooms are spacious and comfortable with the feeling of the old building kept as much as possible. Not too far from Harry Potter Studios. Just up from the canal which is a delightful walk.

The apartment once inside was absolutely fine but the entrance and parking was a real issue for us.
We will need to stay in this area again because of family but will have to try and research any accommodation more thoroughly with the parking.

If this review comes through twice...sorry it went before I had finished. Room ok good size, bed comfy, but radiator in bathroom very weird freezing cold all eve and we hate having a lovely shower jacuzzi and drying off in cold bathroom. Good size en suite though.Tried to get rad on...in night it came on and bathroom like a sauna could not get rad off, floor so hot could hardly walk on it! Small red chairs tatty marks on them. Food ok but disappointed restaurant not open and bar food only...after driving 4hrs etc...if receptionist had shown us how to work jacuzzi which was a lovely surprise, it would have helped...all staff lovely and breakfast very good, but for the price paid we were not impressed....sorry but we were expecting one or two things differently we nearly used a Premier what you see is what you get...! Always clean and comfy and for one night they are fine but as this was a one night stay for a relatives funeral who lived at Ammersham, we decided your place looked more luxurious... we feel half a loo roll and hardly any tissues, was unacceptable we didn't mention this because everything ran out in morning and we had to leave.
friendly staff
food nice although we only had a starter as a snack
room pleasant and I think had been refurbed and I think rooms better than the downstairs suggested
downstairs corridors etc in need of refurb as was car park area very shabby … however I get the impression the place has been taken over recently and is on the up ….so will give another try . the shower was terrible but I do find this with quite a few hotels !! so I won’t hold it against them
The property was lovely and in an beautiful location the village was so pretty.
The hotel was so clean, in beautiful grounds and with ideal walking paths nearby.
The other great advantage, it was only 20 minutes on the train to central London from the local train station.
The room was beautiful and the bed was so comfortable.
The food was great.
We had a wonderful weekend and we will definitely return again for another great weekend here.
the venue/hotel was quaint & comfortable - host/desk staff very polite & helpful - nice area to walk around. Looks like a fabulous wedding venue. Breakfast was nice & staff in their were lovely & helpful the breakfast was small but lots of choice & not to much so you were over faced.
Gorgeous hotel set in beautiful grounds and a stunning location. The rooms are oldie worldy but very comfortable and the food is fantastic. Above all the staff are friendly accommodating and professional. Can’t rate this stunningly gorgeous hotel enough. We will definitely be back 😃
Stayed overnight before a flight out of Heathrow. Wanted to stay out of the city. Very comfortable hotel in a small village. You just need to keep an eye on the motorway and leave in good time to get to the airport
Such a comfortable old hotel. The staff were accommodating and friendly. A special mention to Jane who really went the extra five yards for us. She was super helpful regarding places to see and transport to same.
Our room was very spacious and elegantly decorated. We enjoyed being there and would love to come again if possible! In fact we stayed extra days and cancelled another hotel, because we felt so at home!
Character and setting of the Hotel and surprised how rural the location is. Breakfast was also excellent.
It was only an overnight stay but would have liked to stay longer.
Room was large and comfortable. Hotel was easy to get to and the bar and restaurant facilities were good. There was loads of parking. I'd stay there again for sure.
