The Grange B&B, hotel in Rookley

In the heart of Shanklin's Old Village, The Grange B&B offers 4-star guest accommodation within a gorgeous Georgian country house listed in the AA's Best British B&B Guide.

The Grange is perfectly situated between Shanklin High Street and Old Shanklin - close to several restaurants and other eateries. The Grange is more like a hotel than a B&B with lovely gardens, covered swing seats and a large patio with tables and chairs to enjoy the drinks from the honesty bar. Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits are available all day. The staff could not have been friendlier or more welcoming - especially the lovely Wendy for whom nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were great; ordering what we wanted from the extensive menu and which set us up for the day ahead,

Rookely is beautiful and it's easy to travel to other areas of the island. We managed to visit every area of the in the few days we were there. It was great for us as we wanted tonstay somewhere quiet but with easy access to the the fun days out for the kids. I do reccomened visiting. In our 4 days we were there here are some of the places we visited. Tapnell farm ( great all round day out, kids had a blast) Wildhearts animal sanctuary Dinosaur isle South East beach cafe ( food was great and lovely.view of the beach) Chequers inn ( food was pretty good) Lake farm equestrian centre ( horse riding ) The garlic farm ( delight and u can taste test 😛) Cheverton farm shop ( great products locally produced) Jurassic Jim's ( if you like.fossils and crystals) The donkey sanctuary ( free entry) Shanklin ( stunning place ) we took the kids to the arcade and got ice cream at a place called toppings.

    The caravan was very clean.

The caravan was very clean. But outside when we got there was dirty laundry in front of caravan. Told the bar was doing food but girl was very rude and said no not doing food. Was also told there was entertainment on but then got told no they wouldn’t be having any so false information all the time.

The accommodation and location was perfect.

The accommodation and location was perfect. The site was quiet and on-site facilities adequate. The restaurant was not as seen online and the vast gluten free menu which we were expecting ( two coeliac 's within party) was vastly reduced and most of it not available, what we got was really not edible and soooh disappointing

The IOW is not a big island therefore staying here is very well located to reach any point of interest in less than 30 minutes. the accommodations are very comfortable. the restaurant was closing too early or not opening at all. they could have early options for breakfast , normally i dont need it but traveling for work and for 2 weeks i have missed wifi too much, i think they could improve installing modems around the facility

If your expectations are based on the web site like ours...

If your expectations are based on the web site like ours then be warned. No pool open, no food available, bar shut by 20:00. No other activities available. Basically the site was just open for accommodation and nothing else! Costly compared to others being honest and saying accommodation only.

    Indoor pool really dirty.

Indoor pool really dirty. Rusty lockers and indoor pool inadequately treated so displaying algae at the side and cloudy water. Our cabin had really stained carpet in the lounge (black marks all over beige carpet) and a stained sofa so felt grotty sitting in there. No Wi-Fi access in cabins.

I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to explore the Isle of Wight. The hotel has excellent views and facilities for families. It is well located allowingbyou can also get anywhere within 30 minutes or go on hikes if you wish to. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable for me and my family. All the staff were friendly and provided a variety of options for breakfast and dinner. They were also very accommodating to the dietary requirements of my kids and served us in a timely manner.

Very well appointed and spacious room. Breakfast was wonderful with a big selection of dishes and Ali, the morning attendant, provided great service and even tried to book us a horse ride during one of the mornings. Overall we have had a great experience and highly recommend the hotel.

The staff were friendly and professional without exception. Evening meal and breakfast were delicious. Bedroom and ensuite was huge. The lady who took breakfast order and booked us out was lovely and gave us tips on our travel around the island. She was certainly a bonus to the hotel.
