A Regency house overlooking Ullswater, the Macdonald Leeming House has an award-winning restaurant and views of the Cumbrian Fells. It is a 15-minute drive from the M6 motorway.
Just outside of Penrith, the Brantwood Hotel is less than 3 miles from Ullswater. Just one mile from the junction 40 of M6 it offers en suite bedrooms and TVs.

Breakfast was lovely as was the evening meal albeit a little pricey. If you want just somewhere to lay your head it’s fine 👍

The staff (we saw) were very accommodating. The bed was really comfortable.
Watermillock is like the name of the area. Just odd houses and the A592 which runs through it. I believe that most of the attractions of the Lake District are away from this accommodation. However, Ullswater is visible from the road, and lots of walks and eating places are not far away.

We did a couple of walks along the Ullswater, travelling by steamer and bus as well as by car. It was beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed visiting Pooley Bridge for meals, café and bookshop, as well as meals at Another Place.

Fabulous views form where we stayed.
Fabulous views form where we stayed. It was very near Aira Force Waterfalls a National Trust woodland walk.
It is a good base if you need to take your dog to visit Veterinary Vision in Penrith. The room was perfect for a family

The receptionist at the tail on arrival was underwhelming say the least.
The room was small and rather shabbily furnished. The hotel advertises itself as a four star hotel but is actually a three star hotel. The restaurant food is way overpriced and very poor value for money. There is a 10% service charge on top of the food which is not discretionary as in every other hotel. Other than location there is little else of merit in this hotel and I would certainly not recommend staying there. If you are unfortunate enough to have booked to stay there I would advise that you have your meals on room service which is better value than the restaurant

Our B&B at Lowthwaite was first class, we were very happy to have booked to stay there. Watermillock is set in beautiful scenery around Ullswater. I would love to go again, but would avoid eating at the inn in Dockray next time.

Good location for a two-night stopover, The hotel restaurant was excellent. Hotel facilities were a little dated, but not a big issue. Gardens are extensive, with a short walk to the shore of Ullswater.
Ullswater Lake is our favourite lake and we have stayed in a number of different guest houses in this area. The Ullswater View is now our favourite. Lovely modern rooms and bathrooms, with robes and slippers provided for extra comfort. The breakfasts were lovely, lots of choice, great produce and homemade bread daily. The location is great set back from the main road (very quiet area so no issues with traffic) with wonderful views of Ullswater lake. Would highly recommend this guest house.
We had a lovely stay at Ullswater View. Quick drives to Pooley Bridge, Glenridding and Aira Force Falls. Service was excellent. Great breakfast, very clean facilities, comfortable room. The staff was wonderful and willing to share ideas on where to go. There are several walking trails in the area and the packed lunch from the hotel was perfect for our walk. And the honor bar was very much appreciated after a long day of walking.
The room was small but ergonomically designed so was perfectly adequate. The bathroom was excellent, we liked the simple shower controls. The room looked newly decorated and was spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and the produce was first class.
The B&B is not lakeside but the view of Ullswater and its environs from the room window was very pleasing.
The staff are friendly and accommodating.
We rarely leave any review, but we’ve been really impressed by the kindness of our hosts, and their attention to detail. Quiet and intimate, this is the perfect retreat for a couple wishing to spent quality time minutes away from the gorgeous Ullswater.
Great room, great house and cleanliness is above standard.
Thanks again, highly recommended and we can’t wait to come back!
A great variety of choice for breakfast, well presented. The location is superb as this is really 'off the beaten track' but Ullswater, Pooley Bridge and Keswick are easily accessible. Endless opportunities for walks both long and short, demanding and relaxing. Lots of wildlife, red squirrels and birds.A good 'leg stretcher' to Aira Force waterfalls
Location was unbeatable, absolutely stunning, overlooking Lake ullswater. Amazing bar area with cosy log fire which was lit on arrival. Great selection of local beers and spirits in the bar. Gorgeous evening meal. Room was great for myself and my dog, with lovely view. So peaceful. I'LL be back. Staff friendly enough.
The views are spectacular. It’s a cosy little place, really well equipped with everything you could possibly need. It’s been thoughtfully done with the comfort of guests in mind. It’s only a short drive from Pooley Bridge, which has two great pubs, the Ullswater steamer and shops. I didn’t want to leave.
Cosy, well equipped, great location for walking. Close to buses if your doing the Ullswater way. In fact its on the Ullswater way if you want to do it in one hit. Pooley bridge is close by. As is Penrith for food shopping. We really enjoyed our stay there. The view is wonderful. Would go back.
The Ullswater View Guest House was lovely, with peaceful surroundings and stunning views. Staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Gave lots of recommendations of places to visit and where to eat. Would definitely recommend staying here. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
An excellent accommodation that suited the 3 of us just fine. Just like being at home, with all the usual comforts of home. Spacious, warm, comfortable, beautiful outlook across to Ullswater, quiet and really quite isolated.
Lots of great hiking trails nearby, and the staff were extremely helpful and accomodating. The breakfast was great, and it was awesome that they offered a sandwich or light meal to help when doing a hiking day.
We were very impressed by the Hotel Staff from the great receptionist to the bar staff etc. Breakfast was amazing true value for money. Thanks so much we will return.
