Travelling for Alton Towers this was a lovely little stop for the night before moving on to Alton.
Nice small compact room and lovely cosy little bar area for evening meal and a few drinks.
The food in the bar area was exceptional, though check the timings, the bar was only open from 7pm for food, don't know if that's normal.

Literally. Everything. From the warm welcome and ambience to the incredibly beautiful rooms - it was impeccable. The food, both dinner and breakfast were insane. Highly recommend the Tarte Tatin - I'd go back just for this! I honestly cannot recommend Duncombe Arms enough, I wanted to sign up to become a live in resident. I didnt want to leave. I will definitely be back, and will be recommending to anyone and everyone!

This was a lovely converted rail carriage set in beautiful countryside. Hosts were very helpful with directions and information about key collection. Amenities excellent. Obviously a railway carriage is quite small but it was very well designed and our little family of four was able to fit comfortably inside.

We arrived around 6:30pm and we were shown around the area (the hut and the bathroom)then left to enjoy a peaceful evening! Host was excellent at providing us with dinner options around the local area, the hut was in perfect condition and the bed was super comfortable! We had some lovely visitors (ducks and chickens as well as a cat!) shame the weather wasn’t great but we will definitely make up for this during the summer as we cannot wait to travel back to this location! Thank you again for the lovely hospitality!

Hotel is in a lovely setting, plenty of parking, and very tastefully decorated. Lovely views, and spacious restaurant, bar, and bedrooms.
Very close to Alton Towers.
Not signposted from main road so we had a bit of a tour of the village before we found it.

Good value for money and a lovely overnight stay for us.
Good value for money and a lovely overnight stay for us. A clean, comfortable room with good facilities. Excellent evening meal and breakfast. The staff were first class- very friendly and helpful. You enter the hotel from a rear car park, which doesn’t give the best first impression, but once in the main reception area you are re-assured. The hotel is on a very quiet, peaceful location. It is not sign-posted at all from the A52 through Whiston, which is not ideal especially as the turning into the very narrow lane is tight and not obvious.

Excellent. Couldn't fault the stay. Staff were exceptional. Food looked and tasted fantastic. Alton towers was less than 10mins away. Thank you to the staff who decorated our room for my girlfriends 40th birthday. Totally shocked when she opened the door; balloons, card and prosecco.

Fantastic place to stay! Such friendly hosts that would go out of their way to make your stay perfect. Food was incredible and had something for everyone - which is great when you have fussy eaters in your group.

Fantastic!
Fantastic!
Just got back from a 2 night stay... the young lady who was there the whole time we were, was so lovely. She is a real credit to the place and nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing and a great price... and so are the drinks!
Definitely be going back!!
Fantastic family run business!
The hotel manager/owner was lovely. we had a slight noise problem which was not the managers fault as it was to do with other guest's. Unfortunately the noise travelled from the room below us however when I called the manager at 12.30 am she was extremely helpful and did speak to the other guests, she was very apologetic even though this was not her fault. Other than this we had a fantastic stay and it was the perfect location for Alton towers. I would definitely recommend it.
Location was great - it meant we could enjoy a day in Alton and then relax in the bar area. the food for evening meal and breakfast was excellent. Staff very welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them.
As it was our Dad's 80th birthday, the hotel very kindly put up some beautiful balloons in the room and left a card, rose and a box of chocolates as a gesture - very thoughtful thank you so much. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - thank you.
Booked this for family so going off their feedback. Hotel and grounds were stunning. Room was beautifully decorated as they were on their honeymoon. Staff went above and beyond for this so thank you. Food was 10/10 and staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Perfect location after a visit to Alton Towers on a Sunday. even though the hotel had had a busy wedding on the Saturday and a Mothers Day lunch service our evening meal was excellent and the lovely staff were still full of energy!
Breakfast was excellent to.
Quiet rural location. Big TV in room Freshly cooked breakfast came out quick and started at 7.30 at weekend too so great for an early start Water coffee biscuits toiletries . Friendless attentive staff. Has restaurant with bar too for evening meals. Fab hotel
The hotel decor is stylish and very comfortable. Staff were fantastic and made the stay a most enjoyable one., especially the manageress - brilliant hostess!! The food was fantastic- great presentation, portions and quality. We will definitely book again!
I loved the picturesque nature of the hotel, it was very clean, big and spacious rooms, lovely helpful and friendly staff. I would happily stay there again and would certainly recommend it to others who may be thinking of staying there.
A very nice old manor house type hotel with great staff and wonderful views. Dinner and breakfasts were both very good and the offer of a free round of golf with every stay a delight for sports fans.
Amazing customer service, turned a potential negative from a small overlook in room preperation to a massive positive. Great stay, duty manager and her team are a credit to the hotel.
