Wotter is a village near Shaugh Prior on the south western edge of Dartmoor, in the English county of Devon.
Wotter has a hotel (The Moorland Hotel), a GP surgery, chapel and hall, and play area. The church hall houses a part-time Post Office service, which began operating there a few months after the village's post office closed in 2004. It is also used for Shaugh Prior Parish Council meetings. The chapel was founded as a Methodist church in 1939, sharing a minister with two other villages. After the church closed, it was bought by a Christian family and reopened as Wotter Community Chapel.
Lovely location, staff very friendly and good food. I had to arrive later than planned and rang ahead to enquire about food service, they took my order over the phone (so I didn’t miss it) and then bought it up to the room after I checked in, also included a complimentary brownie as I’d had a bit of trauma and it was my bday. Food was fab and very reasonable. Lovely location for the moor, was there to compete the dog in a race near Plymouth and was a very dog friendly hotel as well.
Food was outstanding and really really really good value. They accommodated me at evening meals although I am a very fussy vegetarian, and went out of their way to make me a meal that they didn't even have on the menu. Breakfast was outstanding also although I would have preferred a fake meat sausage and not the vegetable filled sausage. Eggs clearly free range and poached eggs were beautiful.
Dog friendly hotel only twenty minutes from Plymouth and on the edge of Dartmoor.. Comfortable , clean room with small balcony providing a lovely view of Plymouth in the distance. There is a bar and excellent restaurant on site with a good selection of tasty meals. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Stayed thru my work with a colleague, not leisure. Arrived late and early start. Lovely place, very remote! Good stay, noisy neighbours but that’s not hotels fault. Staff exceptional, helpful and friendly. Lovely breakfast. Would recommend this hotel
I only had breakfast. The chef and manage were super friendly and efficient. I ordered breakfast when I checked in. Not many hotels cook an omelette so it's always good when I have one.
Friendly service and nice atmosphere.
Nice older style hotel in great location for walking or outdoor activities. Great food in the restaurant. Comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff.
