Take a side trip to visit Kourtaliotiko Gorge. There is a trail in the gorge, but we didn't have time for that. So we stopped along the road above and followed the path passed the Church of Saint Nicholas down to a beautiful view of the waterfall.ArthurUnited States - 8.0Scored 8.0

Plakias is a good place to have a rest moving from Imbras...
Plakias is a good place to have a rest moving from Imbras Gorge to Kourtaliotiko gorge, city is small and quite. Beaches in city itself not seems are extraordinary, they have many rocks, but on the left end is there a nudist beach

Plakias is a smallish town and very laid back and relaxing.
Plakias is a smallish town and very laid back and relaxing. As we were half board we didn't try many of the bars/restaurants on offer. We were going to go on a boat trip but one of our daughters was ill so we had to abandon that idea. My other daughter and I did visit Kourtaliotiko Gorge and waterfall which was amazing and we made it to Souda beach on the last day which had lovely clear water. We had a car so we could travel around. I personally think that is an essential if you want to explore the area as it takes a while to drive anywhere as the roads are quite small and bendy!STEPHENUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10
Place has amazing location, but do not expect night life,...
Place has amazing location, but do not expect night life, for that you have to go to Plakias, Damnoni (across the rock, great views) or drive to Rethymnon. Service and meals are great, staff very kind, willing and helpful, always aiming to help, direct, support. Swimming in private pools or in purely clean sea with private beach (no sand, rocky beach, but you can jump from very high cliffs). Hotel also invites oriental dancers, who were just excellent and greek dancers. Someone says - rooms are shubby, but everything is made from solid wood, comfy, only bathrooms a bit small, but sufficient. Place suits to all types of travellers- you want to rest, doing nothing, you can. You want to travel around, you can even go to Santorini by jetboat. Our host met us a provided a wonderful welcome with a small bottle of Raki to enjoy on the beautiful balcony overlooking the sea. Breakfast was provided at the Blue Cafe next door. A wonderful breakfast omelette and eggs were served with good coffee! Lovely sandy beach with easy access and as a bonus a wheelchair access right into the water! We loved our stay and wish we could have stayed longer.

The hotel is smaller, but very cozy in a beautiful and quiet place. The room provides a perfectly adequate space for two people. The view from the balcony is unforgettable. Room cleaning daily and in a much higher quality than I have experienced in many other higher category hotels. Breakfast is a buffet, very tasty, in the hotel garden with a nice view of the sea and Plakias.

Breakfast is excellent and there are lots of different and very interesting things to try. "Garden view" isn't that great and the pool isn't in the Sofia hotel, but in the other one, which is near. However, who needs pool, when you have such a beautiful sea and wonderfull beaches nearby :)
