I loved everything, the tent, the bathroom, the lagoon, the stuff, the restaurant food. The place was clean and we had a good time. Yes, it was expensive, but we knew that already from visits to other resorts at Bintan.

Nirwana Resort Hotel, hotel in Tanjunguban

Featuring an infinity pool with sea views, Bintan Island’s Nirwana Resort offers a full spa and fitness centre. Its rooms overlook the pool, garden or sea. Free WiFi is provided in the room.

I wish I had done more thorough research prior to coming to Bintan island and booking my stay here. This island is a tourist trap, through to the core. Everything is more expensive than Singapore here as places have the service charge and tourist tax on top of all of the prices, so an additional 21%. Once you are in your resort it's also hard to leave. With the amount of staff to guest ratio as well you genuinely had no time alone or peace and you were constantly under their watchful eye. This is not something I consider a relaxing vacation. The food portions were relatively economical as well and choice was slim. I wish I had stocked up on snacks from Singapore supermarkets to have here as the choice from the overpriced hote shop was also slim and overpriced. This island is definitely geared towards Asian tourists. Every activity is some form of tourist trap and you genuinely don't see much of 'Indonesian culture' when here. Also ensure to have cash on you for the tourist visa that you need to pay on arrival where you can't pay by card.
