Interesting place to visit.
Interesting place to visit. Lots to do and see, easy to get around. A visit to Auroville a must. Book early on line if you want to go into the Matrimandir, it was a memorable visit. Great places to eat. We loved the restaurant at La Villa Shanti (booking essential), Restaurant Cecile, Dilliwalla6 and Bread and Chocolate. Lots of places to get Ayurvedic massage and treatments.

A 3 day trip is enough to cover Puducherry - 2 days to sight see and 1 day to relax. Must places to visit are paradise beach and Auroville. Beach dressing necessary to enjoy paradise Beach as it is a shallow beach and one does get fully wet. Keep the evening and night for Rock Beach and a restaurants around it. Lovely place with a lot of heritage buildings and beautiful lanes to walk around. The Aurobindo ashram and its associated institutions are nearby and accessible to the public. Auroville is another place you can visit which is a 30 min drive from the city. You’ll find eateries and lovely spaces in Auroville. The philosophy of the place is one whole single entity for humanity. The architectural pieces and spaces are a feast to the eyes. There are organic farms and various other sustainable buildings and spaces you can visit.

Would recommend : 1) Manakula Vinayagar temple 2) Aurobindo Ashram (sit down quietly and meditate for a few minutes!) 3) Mahakavi Bharatiyar Memorial Centre (An amazing place, especially for Tamil-knowing people) 4) The beaches along Goubert Avenue (Walk all the way down to Serenity beach and further on to Auroville beach) 5) Walk around the 'White Town', so you can appreciate the French-style homes, villas, hotels and cafes. Duck into one of the cafes and have cake and coffee, at the least. 6) Have snacks and tea/coffee at Cottage Restaurant, HM Kassim Salai, MG Road area. An excellent place run under the Sri Aurobindo Udyog Trust. Reasonable prices, tasty snacks and yummy sweets, nice coffee/tea!! 7) Puducherry Museum -- An excellent collection of artefacts and memorabilia. 8) Auroville -- Matrimandir and the rest of the town. Have food in one of the cafes -- quite tasteful and well-priced. 9) Bharathi Park -- located in the middle of White Town, opp the Governor's residence. A lovely place to experience nature and spend time in quite reflection. 10) The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus 11) French War Memorial (located on Goubert Ave) 12) Our lady of angels church located on Rue DumasChandraAustralia

Especially if you don't want to stay in a heritage property using old furniture etc. The hotel is modern and has lovely amenities, the gym and pool stand out to be in excellent condition and very clean. The spa is good, albeit somewhat costly for the local prices. The thing that really sets this hotel apart, is the staff, we were extremely impressed with their helpfulness and ability to make things happen for us. It was quite a pleasant experience to have your vehicle taken care of while you enjoyed your stay including a full auto spa. The breakfast spread was fantastic and had a few exotic south indian choices to choose from apart from the usual English Breakfast. The staff were extremely polite and provided a true 5 star service.

But Pondi is known for its cafes, and we made the most of them. All in all, lovely stay.
