I stayed in Varkala for 3 nights.
I stayed in Varkala for 3 nights. This was mainly due to train timings. 2 nights would’ve been enough. I did a yoga class and auryvedic massage on the last day this would have been better in the second day.
What I did find slightly confusing was the references to North & South Cliff whereas I think South Cliff was an extension of the cliff walk - starting with North cliff.
Plenty of choice for food although a particular favourite was Sun Francisco - the Veg Tali was delicious and good value for money.

Varkala beach is busy very busy on weekends with lots of Indian tourists. The cliff side walk has lots of restaurants and shops. We found the beach a bit rough with the waves but beyond the waves it was calm . The stairs to the beach can be challenging if you have knee issues . It’s has a good atmosphere but we prefer less touristy places hence staying at Odayam each area .

Touristic place.
Touristic place. So lots of restaurants with a large variety of meals, bars, shops, ressorts, loud music, massage.
Best restaurant is Clafouti for me.
Nice beaches, big temple.
This is a tourist destination. India' s soul not there. Crowdy, noisy, pushy salesmen, beggers, stray dogs.
Pretty dirty environment cause of littering.
2 to 3 days stay is enough.

AS OF ME, IT'S NOT SUITABLE FOR THE FAMILY TRAVELLERS, ITS UNSAFE TO ALLOW THE CHILDRENS TO PLAY IN THE SEA SOUR IT HAS DEEPER EVEN IN THE SEA SOUR, BEACH NEAR AREA HAS VERY NARROW ROADS & COJUSTED. I FELT THE CHERAI BEACH IS FAR BETTER THAN THE VARKALA.

Beautiful views from the cliffs, plenty of beaches, option to learn surfing (!), good food, and the most gorgeous mangrove/backwaters (30 mins away).... that's Varakala in nutshell. Lovely cliffside walks with breaks for some ice cream at Scoopy or a whole Israeli breakfast(yummmm) at Buddha Bar. We loved ABBA for all other hunger pangs. Having a rented scooter to go around the places away from the cliffs helps, but there were plenty of Autos as well.

Its took travel time is too far, Kerala roads are not good.
Its took travel time is too far, Kerala roads are not good. Many people not follow traffic rules. Really upset to road travel to Kerala. Many sign boards are shown only in Malayalam Language, we struggled with read.
Except that places are really good and peoples also very friendly.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The location is fantastic, just a few seconds walk to the main shops and restaurants along the cliff.
Everyone was so helpful at the hotel, from booking taxis and massages for us. They also had good recommendations and were eager to help.
Suresh and Rejin were both so helpful. We really enjoyed the cooking course we did here and would highly recommend it.
The room was spacious and comfortable. The air con in our room worked excellently. Would very happily come back to stay here again.
The room was quite awesome with price. The breakfast was very decent and the staff was polite and helpful at needy time. I had a peaceful day. From the room there is 100m to the north cliff view from there is absolutely wonderful. Near to the place there is a shop where we could buy needy things. Lassi thier pet dog was so adorable. I had second experience with this place and he helped me in rescheduling the date of visit.
Iam happy about the visit.
I suggest couples, budget travelers, family 👍🏽
Serene location, spacious and clean dorms, wonderful hosts - Molly and Keshav. They'll help you with contacts and activities to do in and around varkala. It's rare to find such helpful and humble hosts. The love you get from Chotu , the hostel guardian doggo. The property is away from the crowded north cliff ( walkable ) in a silent locality with access to beach and good food around. Will be visiting again in Jan or feb. They also have a beautiful garden and roof top area to chill and work.
We loved our stay at Kerala Cottage. The location is perfect, you step out the cottage and you’re 10 steps from a beautiful beach, and stunningly warm ocean.
It was great being just far enough from Varkala cliff to have serenity but also east access to all the restaurants and facilities. The major upside was the lack of others on the beach and not having to climb a cliff after a swim.
All the staff and management couldn’t help us too much, it was a great stay with great breakfasts!
The kind of people that come here and their energies, including Ram, is amazing. I was happy and didn't feel like leaving.
The place is closer to varkala beach and auto stand within a walking distance and does have all the facilities nearby that one could expect.
The accessibility of this place is good as well unlike other places as you can have difficulty finding access to other hostels/dormitories in the north cliff.
It was a beautiful property, the best we'd seen in South Kerala. Such a calm and serene place. The host along with the manager were super helpful and hats off to them for maintaining the property so beautifully. Amazing hospitality and the South Indian breakfast was delicious. My number recommendation for anyone who's looking for a calm place walking distance from the beach near varkala.
The location of the resort is just excellent, tucked away from the artificial humdrum of the centre and cliff of Verkala (only 25 mins walk along the beach though). You have a whole beach to yourself as very few tourists are around, in addition to that you can observe the daily chores of fishermen everyday morning. It just felt like paradise.
The hospitality and food was exceptional. The owner makes sure to serve your food personally and be always present for your service. They make you feel like guests and not tourists. Walking distance from the helipad and all the cafes in North cliff. A must stay if you’re in Varkala.
Totally a fantastic place to stay. Clean room.. Good ambience. Easy access to beach from cliff. The place is so calm & scenic ! The guys at property are damn cool. Definitely a recommend place to stay.
Great location & Chilled vibe. It's one of the hidden gems in Varkala.
The location is amazing. A slice of paradise a bit outside of the center of Varkala and resort-busy North Cliff.
The whole team was super friendly, helpful and welcoming!
Super layed back atmosphere with the bungalows having their own little front porch.
Breakfast was not given so cannot comment on that and to understand the location varkala beach has a cliff and all restaurants and stays are on the cliff and it was 100m away from the end point of cliff , so for location it was good for 3 people stay
Tranquil location & good view of the ocean from the breakfast area. Staff were always happy to help with any requests. Lovely beach in front of the property to walk along & swim in. About 20 minute walk to Varkala Cliff & shops & restaurants.
Feel good at the check-in, Excellent hospitality by Abhilash & Family.
This place is just walking distance from the cliff.
Very easy to reach from railway station too.
Total a best place to enjoy Varkala.
Looking forward to stay again. 😊
Amazing hotel with very good rates. I think it's a 4 star, not 3 star. Extremely clean, luxurious and comfortable. I much prefer to stay here than in varkala which is just 15 minutes away. Much more comfortable and also much cheaper!
It was a very cosy and comfortable stay! Very close to the north cliff and black beach, we didn't even have to rent bikes to get around. Absolutely worth the price!
