Stia is lovely and this hotel sits right on the quiet piazza. It's not a modern hotel but it's very comfortable and very italian. By the way, the restaurant across the street served us one of the best dinners we ate in Tuscany!

This is a wonderful nearly new property with super attentive and helpful staff. The room was large and nicely appointed, with a small terrace overlooking the town. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was AMAZING ! The chef is Colombian and the menu is an interesting fusion of flavors rather than just typical Italian fare. The masseuse at the spa was excellent (even with a last minute reservation) and the spa / pool was very relaxing. There is not much to do in Stia (although the Wool Museum was quite interesting) but it was a cool base for a few relaxing days and very convenient to Florence.
La Torricella is surrounded by greenery, close to the Foreste Casentinesi National Park. Its restaurant has a veranda with a beautiful view of Casentino Valley and Poppi's castle.

The dinners there were great. Breakfast was probably OK for Italian purposes, but the Austrian/German buffet set-ups a bit more diverse.
