Brunate is a great way to stay above Como and more suitable...
Brunate is a great way to stay above Como and more suitable for families or couples that seek peace and tranquility. There is a cafe surving drinks and snacks with a FAB view point Walk to the lighthouse FAB views of Lake Como! Funicolcare is great fun I went on the ferry to Villa Carlotta I left Brunate at 8.30am and took the Ferry at 10am. It is 2 hours to Villa Caroltta on the lake but it is FAB with beautiful views. There are various stops along the lake, Double check your return journey as I missed the boat back, There is a bus it takes about 45 minutes and get a ticket from the newsagent down the road for 5 euros, There is a stop by the ferry stop and one outside the newsagent. With your back to the ferry stop you will see the Como bus Fermata across the road. And turn left from the ferry stop for the newsagent there are shops/cafe here too. There are FAB resturants in Como. My husband enjoyed the one on the sea front near the ferry stop it served delicious sea food!AdrianUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Nothing of interest here really. Maybe the Volta lighthouse ? (Closed by the time we arrived, so couldn't really tell). Nice view over the lake (Villa d'Este a.o.) from up there. If you do want to come to Brunate, I strongly suggest you take the Funicular from Como for a short round trip. Coming here with a larger car is a bit of a nightmare, and spending the night here was a mistake, wish we'd stayed in Como.

The location is amazing, on top of the mountain overseeing Como, right next to the funicolare that brings you down to Como - and you’re against the tourist stream coming up in the morning and leaving in the evening which is a considerable advantage as the town is crowded.
