Buccinasco is a small town on the outskirts of Milan, not quite the big metropolis, but also not quite a country town. To be fair, we didn't have time to explore it as we were busy dealing with family issues. Based on our limited experience, I'd say it's the perfect spot for affordable accommodation with excellent links to the underground and to the town centre via the historic area of i Navigli. From here you also have easy access to motorways and the ring road. You're spoilt for choice when it comes to grocery shopping although you need to pick the right time to visit the stores as they can become very crowded, very quickly. Plus they have different rules than in the UK: remember to scan your receipt if you want to be let out of the store! And by the love of God don't walk into the store with a large bag or the staff will go nuts and discuss the size of your bag for hours. And possibly call security. Maybe even the police. 🙈 We discovered late into our stay that there's a beach volley training place not far from our accommodation. A beach?! When we looked it up we discovered there are massive green areas with lakes at the back of town, not too far from the canal but probably too far to walk there and back. Next time we go we'll make sure to explore these. If you walk around after dark I'd say be careful of where you go as some parts looked a bit dodgy. Relatives who live in Milan reckon it's dangerous to go around at night using public transport. Although we didn't have any issues whatsoever I can see why they might think that. Overall, the place is OK if you want easy access to Milan without the price tag of staying in Milan. 😊 P.S. check out the artisanal ice cream parlour near the Esselunga!!
