Very nice medieval town with a lively city centre plenty of shops and bars. The Colli Euganei are just round the corner, so its location is fantastic. Nearby there are very good tyipical restaurants with tasty local food and wines, at very resonable prices.

Este was nice and allowed us to travel to other places in an hour or so. Most informal restaurants serve pizza and pasta. There was only one nearby restaurant we found that had a nice variety of food for dinner. It was called Dry Bar. I recommend the seared ahi there and the mushroom risotto. Salotto 38 a great bar and meeting place.[beneath the town hall in the central piazza maggiore] I was part of a twinning visit so we met locals and were taken around by them. Noticed huge numbers of cyclists with all the gear in the town... it has designated cycle routes in the nearby Colli Euganei Hills. very beautiful hills.

A lovely 15th century walled town with a castle, you can walk in the gardens beneath or climb the tower for beautiful views. Lovely square with shops, restaurants and nice bars, where you can chill with a drink. Good architecture, an excellent museum. I would really recommend Este for a short break. Clean and rural. Give it a try.
