A beautiful town with lots to do.
A beautiful town with lots to do. We visited Domu Antiga (hotel) for dinner and would have loved to try their cooking classes if we had time. We visited the stunning Olianas winery and learned about their biodynamic wine making process- and tasted their unique orange wine. We visited nearby Escolca where Sa Mola olive oil producers are based and we were able to taste their delicious extra virgin olive oil! They also have a camping experience. Gergei is a good base to explore the area around Barumini...
Gergei is a good base to explore the area around Barumini and the Su Nuraxi site, Parco della Giara with wild horses, and the surrounding towns. Gergei is very small and there isn't a lot to do in the town itself, but it's lovely with stone buildings and a small church. We went to Su Nuraxi and the Casa Zapata museum, and walked 5km in the Giara, where you can also rent bikes (it's fairly large). We had a nice dinner at La Taverna Del Conte in Gesturi. We were only there one night but would have stayed longer, especially to enjoy the house and gardens of Mario Cesare.NancyDenmark
