Hotel Firenze e Continentale, hotel in La Spezia

Set in a renovated historic building, Hotel Firenze e Continentale offers elegant air-conditioned rooms.

The room was nice and comfortable. The bathroom was a little cramped but it's Europe, so to be expected. The buffet breakfast was very good. The location is great, right across the street just a few steps down from the train station. The hotel is also not far from a very enjoyable town square area that has restaurants. The price of the room was good too. I wish we had stayed there in La Spezia instead of staying in Monterosso.

The Nautilus Hotel completely exceeded my expectations! The rooms and amenities are basic, but the hotel is clean, comfortable, and well located (the train station is easily accessible by bus) - and the hotel manager was wonderful! My friend and I had trouble finding a taxi the day we left, and she and her husband were so kind in helping us. I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for an affordable, comfortable home base from which to explore the Cinque Terre.

FAQs about hotels in La Spezia

Gateway to the 'Cinque Terre'

La Spezia is one of those typical cities of the Liguria Region where colourful houses cover hills and cliffs, providing panoramic views over the sea. Thousands of years of history and a heart open towards the sea have shaped the character of this town surrounded by the 'Cinque Terre'.

Located on the coast of the namesake gulf, its proximity to Genoa has greatly influenced its development and culture. Take a walk uphill from the harbour, and admire the display of architectonic styles in the Old Town. Some of the best hotels in La Spezia are located here, while elegant guesthouses and villas with gulf views can be found in the highest areas.

Must-see sites in the city are the 13th-century Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and St George’s Castle. The ‘Sea Festival’ is organized every summer, and its highlight is the rowing competition ‘Palio del Golfo’, a race between the 13 villages of the gulf. Departing from the port of La Spezia, boats can take you to the enchanted ‘Cinque Terre’.

The harbour is a 15-minute walk from La Spezia Central Station, and Genoa’s Cristoforo Colombo Airport is 105 km away. While planning your trip, check out Booking.com’s accommodation deals in La Spezia.

La Spezia is always presented as a working port , with no tourist value. We found it to be a good looking , relaxed city , plenty of eateries and cafes , pedestrian areas to walk and a great transport hub. While my friends did the Cinque Terre walk , I made a very easy 90 min journey by train to Lucca. Infact , it was very nice to be in a town that was just going about its own business.

I have been to La Spezia before. It is very cosmopolitan and I particularly like the traffic free pedestrian area in the centre. Lots of lovely shops. Great for access to boat and rail trips to The Cinque Terre, Lerici and Portovenere

We are a family of 3 with a small child of 4 years age. We planned our itinery based on the weather forecast. We visited Cinque Terre for 1.5 days, followed by Pisa + Lucca on a day and rounded our trip by visiting the top attractions in La Spezia for few hours. I liked visiting the technical naval museum, crossing The Thaon di Revel Bridge walking along ,Costantino Morin Promenade, strolling through Via Del Prione & Corso Cavour. My son loved playing at the play area in Public Gardens. We loved eating Farinata @ Murphy's in La Spezia.

La Spezia was a great place to be based to visit Cinque Terre. The town does have a lot of graffiti though, which we initially regarded as being off putting, however we did not feel unsafe when we were there.

La Spezia is a great place to stay if doing the Cinque Terre trail. It is a nice spot with lots of shops and restaurants. November seems to be a quiet time for the area, we imagine it would have been busier and more atmospheric during summer months.

    Beautiful town.

Beautiful town. Wish we had more time to spend another day there. We stayed overnight there so we could use the hop on hop off ferry to the Cinque Terre. Ferry as nice. Then took train back to La Spezia. Beautiful little city. We walked to the boat dock through the town. Lovely walk and harbor is very pretty. Got some delicious pastries in the morning, but we have no idea what they were - unfortunately. Also unfortunately we didn't get a chance to see anything else LaSpezia has to offer. I hope you do.

Michi was a fantastic host. She offers a very clean space with a well equipped kitchen. No issues with parking. There are some cute bars and restaurants down the hill on the marina. I would suggest making reservations during these times. I love the balcony area. Perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or tea. I would recommend driving or taking a bus to the train station to get to Cinque Terre and surrounding areas. I had better luck finding parking at the La Spezia Migliarina station than the chaos of dealing with Central.

The room was charming and lovely. Well decorated and cosy. There’s an air conditioner which is super helpful in hot Italian summer. The location is great – close to train station which is very convenient for going to Cinque Terre. The stuff is friendly. We arrived late and they made the check in super easy with a video. I suggest parking in a free car park 10 min walk away rather than paying. Not related to the hotel but you could also stay in Levanto or other towns north of Cinque Terre which are nicer than La Spezia.

    - Staff was very friendly. We arrived around the time the match of the Euro2020 finals between England and Italy started. The guy who checked us in was obviously super excited to go and see the game, but still took his time to give us all the necessary information. We really appreciated this! They also found us a free parking spot. - The room was very clean and cleaned daily. - The location was perfect to visit Cinque Terre by train, as well as to reach the center of La Spezia by foot.

The stay was amazing. The room was perfect for our family of 5, and the terrace was great to eat meals and sit out in the evening and the morning. It is located in the heart of La Spezia. Lots of shops and eating choices everywhere. Very short walk to the market. Close to the train station...10 min walk. Loved the restaurants nearby. We are definitely coming back and staying at this gem of a place. La Spezia was the highlight of our 2 week tour of Italy.

Alida was a wonderfull host, very attentive and sincere and she gave us valuable recommendation for our trip to cinque terre. She served handmade breakfast in the rooms (even glutenfree if you give her a hint in time) like in a 5 star hotel and if you need anything, she tries to help. The room was lovely and very comfortable. We had a very good time in her BnB and we defenitely would come back :-)

The little hotel is driven by a wonderful woman, the rooms, very spacey, are totally new and beautifully decorated. Perfect bed and perfect bathroom. Outside a well kept garden with pool. The most amazing breakfast, where the hosts bakes fantastic bread and cakes for the guests every morning. The hotel is placed on a hill from which one can see a powerful view over La Spezia harbour.
