Location is great, since it is placed in a quiet, small village, but easily reachable by car from Spoleto. Owners are very kind and friendly. They showed us the swimming pool they were constructing at that time and I could see how nice it will be once it is finished.
The room and facilities were super clean. The bed was comfortable.
Hotel Clitunno is a historic building set in Spoleto's historic quarter, just a 5 minute walk from the Duomo. This refurbished hotel has an excellent restaurant on site.

Note: You will definitely want to get a taxi from the train station as there is too much of incline if you have luggage. Taxi was around 15€ each way.

This is a lovely place with wonderful and attentive staff who go out of their way to meet every need. It has been in the same family for forty years and their dedication really shows. We loved the location — while Spoleto is full of things to do and see, try to make time to spend an afternoon sitting by the pool looking up into the olive grove (where you might catch a glimpse of the donkey!) It is so peaceful and very walkable 1.5 miles to the train station (although I would not walk in the dark because the last part does not have sidewalks).
During our stay, we were the only English-speaking guests but the menus were in English and Roberta is fluent in English (and kind despite our terrible attempts at Italian).
Each morning there is a bountiful and free breakfast, complete with meats, cheese, yogurt and a totally-worth-the-calories HOMEMADE cake. Also any kind of coffee drink made to order. We also thought the restaurant for dinner was very good and extremely reasonably priced.
Our room had AC and was VERY clean.
I would say this was an exceptional value — 5 nights plus 5 breakfasts and three dinners cost only 641 euros. We found La Macchia a good base for exploring Spoleto and the following towns.
Offering panoramic views across the Umbrian countryside, Villa Cristina is a 15-minute walk from Spoleto's historic center. It offers free parking, and a terrace where you can enjoy breakfast.
The Hotel is immersed in a fantastic natural park, amid centuries-old Holm-oaks, in a setting so peaceful that it's almost unreal, and just a stone's throw from Spoleto, a town where art, culture and...

One of our favorite stays anywhere in the world. The hotel was in a beautiful and very quiet location, rooms were spotless, very nicely done, and the food (and coffee) was great. We loved being with the animals on the property, and Elisabetta and Patrizia were such amazing hosts!
