Veglie has a good range of places to eat, drink and relax.
Veglie has a good range of places to eat, drink and relax. It seems to be a living/working town, and is not particularly geared to tourists, which makes the experience especially enjoyable. We loved Il Paesiello in Veglie for seafood dishes, and L'Orecchietta in nearby Guagnano for their local speciality buffet at lunchtime. We also enjoyed the range of local wine and beer producers which was open for visits and tours. A highlight was the flock of sheep and goats that was taken out of Veglie to the fields each day to graze, and brought back in the afternoon for milking. The sheepdogs have amazing control and are able to move the animals over to one side so traffic and pedestrians can pass! Veglie is also only ten minutes from Porto Cesareo, a small coastal town with beaches, weekly market, shops and restaurants, ideal for family days out.StephenItaly

Staff were exceptional and the food was lovely (we had breakfast but dinner was also on offer for €25pp). The room was basic but had everything we needed but the pool was one of the best we’d had on our two week trip (with 9 other hotels to compare too). They let us stay to use the pool after we’d checked out which was very nice of them.
