Nice breakfast with a view at roof top. The room was very clean with a view on the port as advertised. Nice products in the bathroom.

Very quiet and spacious, clean and modern room. (Not sure why some reviews said it was noisy. It was as quiet as a monk's retreat!) We didn't have a car but the hotel picked and dropped us off at the airport. We rented bikes from the hotel and cycled to some amazing beaches. Restaurants within walking distance and bus stop right there. Enjoyed shopping at the gift shop. I was sad to leave. Limited English but they tried hard to communicate and with their English skills and Google translate, it wasn't a problem. Highly recommend this place.

Friendly and helpful front desk and lovely comfortable, communal lounge. We also liked the giant bean bags to sit on in the room. The futon was also more comfortable than expected. The place is also just a minute's walk from the bus stop for the airport bus.

The hotel is beautiful, the design outstanding. The room was overlooking scenic beach. Waking up to the view of beach was priceless. Breakfast was delicious, one day it was traditional Japanese , the other it was a bit more Western. Location was a bit remote but it isn't a big problem if you have a car.

Everything! The house is beautiful, the village and the beach is amazing and Amami is heavenly. The house has everything you need and it’s very comfortable. Having the windows open at night to let in the fresh air and the sound of all the animals was great! We were surprised there wasn’t a single insect in the house, despite Amami’s tropical climate. The coral reefs are pretty far off shore at Kuninao beach, but we found that they were a bit closer at the southernmost end of the beach, near the cliffs. We were even visited by a sea turtle out there! The beach is at its best at sundown, but when it gets dark the hermit crabs become active, and it’s so much fun watching these little guys struggling with their oversized homes There’s a great lunch place nearby too, Bee lunch, with tasty food and friendly chicken :)

    People mostly go to Okinawa looking for amazing beaches,...

    People mostly go to Okinawa looking for amazing beaches, while Amami, that is closer, is still not well-known to non-Japanese people. It is reachable either by flight or by a night ferry from Kagoshima. In Amami you can experience a non-touristy holiday while enjoying nature and stunning beaches. Finding someone speaking English is not easy, as they’re are not so used to having western visitors. However, they’re so friendly that despite any language barriers they will try to engage a conversation with you and help you if needed. A must in your Japan trip!

    It's a totally stunning island.

    It's a totally stunning island. I've travelled quite a lot in Japan and south-east Asia but have never experienced such stunningly clear water. Most of the beaches are to the north. I was there in August and the weather was fine everyday. I can't wait to return!!

    This island is amazing.

    This island is amazing. My husband and I were on our honeymoon, we’re from Canada. We wanted to stay longer, however, we weren’t able to revise our flight through Expedia for an extra few days without buying a whole new ticket. You could spend weeks here, there’s so much to see and relaxation. We’ve travelled for 10 plus years and this place is a top on our list. A hidden gem.

    Scenic beaches of amami island, very hospitable friendly...

    Scenic beaches of amami island, very hospitable friendly island people. Good roads to drive around, navigation is easy. Using public bus is good option too. Some supermarkets are available within 2km distance so bento can be found. Plus joyfull is easily located in naze, on way to tatsugo n airport too. Must visit other islands like kakeromajima island etc
