Friendly staff who were very understanding as we were caught in the typhoon which stranded all the shinkansen trains. Offered us a choice of a bigger room and helpful in proactive updating us when train expected to resume. Short 10min walk from the JR station. Short 10 min walk to a dining area with lots of food choices Has wifi.

    The ease of access for the Shinkansen was excellent,...

    The ease of access for the Shinkansen was excellent, although this was a downside as this could be heard quite late into the evening. A local supermarket was nearby (less than 5 minute walk from the hotel) and had fruit/veg to bread to hot sweet potato! Downside apart from the slight noise from the train service would be the lack of things to do in the area, but this is made up for by travelling to other areas. Also, please check the local bus and train services for the last running service as returning to Gifu-Hashima (or any smaller station) can be a struggle if missing the last running service- it involved me walking 2 hours to the hotel!

    Great Guest house.

    Great Guest house. Everything was perfect : confortable and convenient. The owner is very welcoming. I choosed to stay there as a central place between Kyoto, Osaka, Takayama and Nagoya for daily visits; it was a good choice and convenient, as the hostel is located at 2min walk from train station. There are convenient stores around, and 24h laundry room in the same building. Everything was super clean, i stayed in dormitory, it seems the owner is experienced as he paid attention to all details : individual dimmerable lamps and plugs, stairs to go in uphill beds (most hostals have scales), curtains, bathroom located aside the dorms so no need to go outside. I really recommand this place.
