Our stay at this hotel was excellent. The family running it went above and beyond. They drove us several times where we needed to go, filled up our water bottles multiple times, let us check out late and even gave us a parting gift. The TV in the room had many English speaking channels, including live England football games. The beds were incredibly comfortable. Highly recommended.

The rooms were amazing although no shower gel in the shower. The greenery and extra space in the rooms including patio was fantastic.

A relatively untouched area of Cambodia, still retaining colonial charm. It lives in the past to some degree, and is the antithesis to the mish mash of Phnom Penh development.
The riverside is still the place to stroll or even exercise, and the surrounding countryside is lovely, with nice views from some of the higher locations.
I ate at the homes of Khmer friends, and we had driven up from PP, so getting around was as easy/difficult as any journey on overcrowded Cambodian roads!

Not one of the top travel spots yet.
Not one of the top travel spots yet. Battambang town doesn't stand out as anything special compared to other places in Cambodia. It doesn't really have anything special, and is very dusty all around.
However, it is ideal for a day trip (max 2 nights) from Siem Reap if you have time.
There are unique experiences that are on the outskirts of town :
1/ Bamboo Train (touristy but still good enough. especially if you can manage to beat the tourist vans in the morning, then it's just you on the train (train ride is about 15 mins each way)
2/ Killing Caves (get there at about 4-430pm, stay for about 30 mins)
3/Bat cave (super cool experience, stay there only for about 30 mins max in the evening

Gave a good feeling of real-life in Cambodia, away from the tourist crowds. The town has a fine old french colonade along the river. Very beautiful. The local market is worth a visit.
Highly interesting are the temples in the surroundings, ex the Banan temple. A visit to some of the commemoration sites also outside the town showing the cruelty of the Khmer Rouge in the nineteen seventies, is a must not to forget what happended.

I homestayed with the O'hamok family - incredible real Cambodian experience. We toured at my pace, I have never experienced this level of relaxation throughout my travels. I only wished I could speak Khmer and or French so that I could have contributed more to conversations but we got by easily with english.
Good location, 15-20 minute walk into town and less than 10 to the night market.
Spacious and clean room with bottle of water. Fan was fine despite hot temperature too!
The thing we loved the most and what makes this place great value for money is the friendly and helpful host! They assisted us with any activities and sightseeing, gave us recommendations and we learnt a lot about life in Cambodia too! Highly recommend to anyone staying in Battambang, particularly on a budget. Also we recommend a tuk tuk tour with Sophran too. :)
Great hotel for our short stay in Battambang. The staff was very friendly and thoughtful even though their english was limited. we were greeted with nice sweet pineapples when we checked in! the room is super clean (despite what some comments said…) and functional, and the bathroom was big and spacious (+ hot water if that’s important for you)
We were given the opportunity to leave our bags at the reception after check out which was very convenient!
Staying here takes the cake as the most authentic experience of travelling Cambodia. Saro and his family and lovely people who were incredibly accommodating and helped us see everything in Battambang. We did the cooking class with his MasterChef level wife and heard a bunch of amazing stories and the history of the area from Saro. The facilities are also really good, better than expected. We can’t recommend 2 nights here enough!
The staff were really friendly and helpful, we booked to go to the circus, the killing cave and bat cave. We also booked an onwards bus through them where we were picked up from the hotel. Free water refill was really good too. The hotel is a bit far out of time so if you want to eat or drink late it's a fair walk in the dark, however we downloaded the pass app so taxi tuk tuks were only $1 ish.
We had a very good stay at the Muni Residence. Very spacious rooms, lovely bed and everything insanely clean. There was even an oil scent dispenser and air humidifier in the room.
The owner speaks English very well and was very kind. He was able to arrange a lovely day long TukTuk tour around Battambang.
We loved the homemade desserts.
Would definitely recommend this hotel!
It's certainly different of any guesthouse/hotel, I've ever stayed in. I'd the best sleep in days due to the peaceful and quiet location. No cars or motorbikes' noise. But what really makes this place great is the owner. He goes out of his way to help you in anything you need. He's the kindest person I met in Cambodia. I would come back again.
We really loved our stay at Battambang Resort. The place is lovely, quiet, with a nice swimming pool. Food was great and staff very kind. Even though is not not in the city center, it is easy to reach with a tuktuk within 10 minutes.
The room is great with a nice terrasse on the lake.
Royal Hotel is always a good, solid option (third visit there). The staff is very nice and helpful, they help you with organising tuktuk-drivers, sightseeing tours, boat trip tickets (from Battambang to Siem Reap, a must do). Close to restaurants and the market.
A beautiful hotel with the most gorgeous and accomodating staff. Srey Puth and every staff member we encountered were so friendly and kind. Exceptional customer service. The a la carte breakfast was also outstanding in both presentation and taste.
absolutely delicious food - possibly the best we had for the whole of our stay in Cambodia.
The staff were fantastic - so helpful and kind. my husband was ill with a fever when we were there and they made him special teas and porridge. so kind.
Beautiful property about 15 minutes north of central Battambang. Quiet and serene! Home cooked meals on premises, very tasty and great value. The family that runs it is so nice, kind and genuine people! Loved the traditional “Khmer shower”!
Staff are very helpful and friendly; they are familiar with everything you need to know about Cambodia. Location is good, the main sightseeing spots are within 10-20 minutes walk.
Location perfect and the quality of everything far better than we expected for the price.
Beds a bit firm but still better than in many other hotels that cost triple the price
Beautiful hotel resort, spacious and cosy suite room, breakfast ala cart delicious and friendly staffs. Highly recommended this place to other travelers.
