What a lovely hotel. My room was large and comfy and the historic house was so beautiful. The best part of my stay however were the exceptional women who staff and run the place. I can't remember ever being welcome so warmly at any place I've ever stayed. (And I'm ancient! 62 years old with lots of hotels under my belt. ) I'm not sure if it's a NaNa thing or a Morelia thing, but wow, what a kind and welcoming place this is. I will definitely return.

Try to plan to be there on Saturday evening at 9pm to see the wonderful fireworks at the cathedral. Be there early. They only last 5 minutes but they're great.

A historical cultural center with many museums, pink stone Baroque architecture, many outdoor cafes, plazas, good food everywhere. A lively, rather sophisticated city indicative of its many colleges and universities. Spanish Catholic influences with a strong undertone of deep indigenous traditions. Outlying areas with ancient archeological sites and interesting artisan towns. Third largest lake in Mexico.

We enjoyed the main street, the park, the street performers, the aqueduct, the magnificent architectural tours available. We also loved to listen and dance to our favorite band, Musico Vocal Horus, which plays five nights a week at Onix restaurant.

This was not our first visit to Morelia, but it was our first visit since Covid. It is a gracious city with beautiful architecture. Coincidentally it was a holiday weekend, so the historical center was abuzz with activity. This was our first stop on our way to other destinations, but it is certainly not out last visit to Morelia or Michoacan.

Morelia was one of the most interesting and lovely cities I’ve visited in Mexico. We loved the zoo, spent 5 hours there, and were blown away by the gardens and the giraffe encounter. We walked many miles through the historic center, enjoyed restaurants, street performers, the scenery, the double-decker bus tour, and touring and photographing the interiors and exteriors of the many historic churches and cathedrals. We found people friendly to us as Americans, and we felt safe and welcome. Thank you, Morelia, for sharing your beauty, warmth, and culture with a couple of happy Americans!

I booked a day and a half for Morelia.
I booked a day and a half for Morelia. It was about half way on a longer trip I was making. I had always wanted to see its Cathedral, but didn't think there was much more. I couldn't have been more wrong! Within the first hour, I knew I'd have to go back! The Centro is amazing! The old Colonial buildings are still standing and modern life just exists within. My hotel left one wall uncovered...nothing like sleeping next to a wall from a city founded in the 1500s!! I spent the day touring 2 former convents, the childhood home of Morelos (for whom Morelia is named) and, of course the beautiful Cathedral. One highlight of many was watching the 'Old Man Dance' in the central plaza. I had seen the dance before in Santa Barbara, CA, but to see it where it originated was magical! I feasted on traditional mole, carnitas, corundas and uchepos and I attended a retelling of the Morelia legends. (Spoiler: Doña Fernanda is still wandering the streets at night looking for her lost daughter.) I saw a Nativity scene that filled an entire plaza and watched from my balcony as the entire town showed up for the lighting of their beloved Cathedral. All this and I barely ventured off the main street! I will definitely go back to this Pueblo Mágico!
What a lovely hotel. My room was large and comfy and the historic house was so beautiful. The best part of my stay however were the exceptional women who staff and run the place. It is an extraordinary place. A modern Japanese-style capsule hostel fitted inside a noble colonial building. It is beautiful and it meets European standards of cleanliness, something very rare in Mexico. There is a beautiful interior patio with tables and chairs where you can sit, read a book or talk to other guests. Near the historic centre. Very clean bathrooms.
Great location, small comfortable and homey hotel. Spacious rooms. Open space for relaxing with plants in the center, small patio in back for holding classes (I teach fitness classes with the groups I bring to Michoacan). The staff is wonderful; I've stayed at this hotel a few times and it feels like coming home, they are gracious, helpful, and attentive.
Very disappointed the room was paid for and when I checked they said nothing available and gave me the worst room they had first time in Mexico and what terrible experience, how can that be the room was reserved and paid for and I almost had to stay in the street in foreign country never again will I stay there or recommend to anyone else
I really enjoyed the location in the historical center of Morelia at a walking distance from the main monuments. The free parking space was also very close to the hotel, on the same street. Furthermore, the hotel premises were brand new, and everything worked well. The breakfast on the rooftop was also very nice.
Staff was super friendly, room was cleaned each day, location is great, close to a nice local market and a very short walk to centro. An all around good place if you're just looking for a no frills accommodation to spend a couple nights! Wifi is also very fast and the free breakfast was great
They sell soft drinks and snacks, apparently the hotel does not have a restaurant but there is a restaurant next door.
There is availability to park the vehicle inside and outside the hotel
The bus station of Morelia, Michoacán. it is across the street
good price….. it was an incredibly small room with no window very stuffy and of course it’s in May and Mexico is quite warm and today I have all these little bites so I think there were bedbugs so I’m now home and I’ve isolated all my clothes.
Beautiful hotel with old charm but with modern facilities. Our corner room was a bit small but very elegant and clean. The bed and pillows were amazing…very comfortable!! The restaurant has a lot of greenery around it and the food is delicious
Location, comfortable bed, and the best shower in Mexico! Nice historic building close to most tourist attractions in Morelia. The neighborhood is walkable and safe.
